I’ll ask you again since you ignored it the first time and continue to make this stupid argument and continue to claim the south were traitors. If you and I enter into an agreement and we both willfully sign a contract that defines our rights and responsibilities under said agreement. Years later I come back and say, “You know I never liked this part of our agreement because I consider it to be immoral. As such I’m no longer going to uphold that portion of our contract whether you like it or not.” You respond and say, “That’s fine. If you want to unilaterally alter our agreement without my consent then I want out of our partnership.” Who is the traitor? You or I? If I then come back and say, “No you’re not leaving our partnership and if I have to murder your men, women and children to stop you then that’s what I’m going to do.” Who is in right and who is in the wrong? Furthermore if placed in that position would you not fight back?
Obviously you have never actually read the original contract for yourself! The Constitution, which is the contract in question, set a TIME LIMIT of 20 years before slavery could be be outlawed and that was AGREED TO by the SLAVE states when they RATIFIED the Constitution. By breaking away it was the Slave States that VIOLATED the contract and refused to uphold the agreement.
But they didn’t outlaw it because they didn’t change the constitution because they didn’t have enough of the support of the populace to amend the constitution. They simply ignored the constitution and violated it at will. And if you violate your obligations under a contract and refuse to cease then ON WHAT GROUNDS do you come to the conclusion the other side must continue to uphold theirs?
The SLAVE states violated the Constitution by unilaterally seceding WITHOUT the consent and agreement of the rest of the states. They broke away because they realized that as the new territories became states themselves then slavery would be outlawed by a MAJORITY of American citizens and STATES who would RATIFY that Amendment to the Constitution. So stop blaming the North for the SLAVE states VIOLATING the Constitution.
The slave states seceded because the northern states were violating the constitution at will and with immunity even after being ordered to cease on two separate occasions by the SCOTUS. Again. On what grounds do you assert the south was obligated to continue to follow the constitution when the north was violating it at will and ignoring edicts from the highest court in the land?
Where is your CREDIBLE SUBSTANTIATION for that allegation? You need to substantiate your allegation FIRST!
Update... you fell for a story that wasn't actually true, didn't you. And you created an entire thread based on a narrative that is now documented as being untrue. Your analysis here was based on your own bias. And your attempt to incite more unjustified fear is reprehensible.
You have that ASSBACKWARDS since BOTH decisions supported the SLAVE states and had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with your BOGUS allegation about the Northern states! The Northern states were FOLLOWING the CONSTITUTION by passing an AMENDMENT to restrict slavery to the original states only. That proposed amendment was NOT a violation of the constitution because it CONFORMED to the ORIGINAL wording in the Constitution that ALLOWED for that Amendment once the deadline was passed.
Yes and my perspective is that the confederate battle flag represents nothing more than the defunct confederate states and I don't fear the negative history involved in that. In fact I have no fear of any flag.
You don’t know what you’re talking about. In Priggs v PA the SCOTUS ruled that the personal freedom laws instituted by the north were unconstitutional and as such must cease. The north simply ignored them and continued passing those laws because they knew the executive would not enforce the decision.
Old news.Has no current value.Like arguing about WWI when entering lnto Iraqi Freedom. What IS ... is. You can't take away or Cancel " Is ". Can Whites be Slaves.? Of course.European Christians were enslaved by Muslims between 1530 and 1780. Sounds like Al Sharpton's favorite refrain. You have a right to your own Opinion but not your own Facts. Same guy who said ... " I've never seen an effective boycott that didn't work." " White folks was in caves while we { blacks } was building empires ... We built Pyramids before Donald Trump ever knew what architecture was ... we taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek { H-word } ever got around to it. "
