Say ... is Rutabaga any relation.? I'm not to sure how welcoming a
gaggle of rutabaga in one's bed would be.I can think of better things
to snuggle up with as the lights go out.
BTW ... them's Raccoon are sure neato.Kinda chubby though.
I get a kick out of the way Raccoon use their little paws to snatch eats.
Kinda reminds me of family members gettin' grabby when nice Strip steaks
    come off the grill.

Some Rudbeckia is 'technically' an annual. However it seeds itself freely, which is what brings it back each year. I love coneflowers (there are many colors to drool over!) but mine did not do well this year. No blooms whatsoever, I believe the late freeze killed the blooms. I have greenery, which means I still have them for next year.

Have you considered a small drip irrigation system? That way you can turn it on, and will drip the water directly on the soil, so there shouldn't be flooding issues next door from run off. You can even go fancy with a timer so you don't have to turn it on and off.

Have to give them lots of room to spread out for at least a century.
We lost three massive oaks that were too close to each other.
    The survivor is still stressed.

Before I became 'woke' on gardening, I planted several trees (freebies from Arbor Day Foundation) way to close together. I've since had to cut two down, they were doing very poorly. As you said, the remaining one is still lanky and stressed.

    I've since learned.....

Good luck with your coneflowers. I want a large area next year for rudbeckia. With rudbeckia, coreopsis, and coneflowers the more the merrier.

When we planted pine trees we took three large steps and planted a tree. An oak may take four or five steps apart. ..... or more.

Not so fast.Ham or Hams are sometimes a dime a dozen.
Some Hams like Honey Baked or some fancy Italian Hams
are marvelous. Some country Hams like Clifty Farms are
what I term Salt Hams. You gotta baby them.Wash down all the salt
curing.Maybe even put them to bed with Nursery Rhymes before
fixing for Dinner.Think Napoleon vs. Snowball { Animal Farm }.
    Without being a Squealer.

    Hmm...

Never heard of it. I do have one of those soaker hoses. It works! I've let it run for an hour and a half, while repositioning it, without problems. It's kind of a pain, though , and wouldn't be practical for that center bed.

Thanks for the tip! I'll read up on them.

Planted six plants. Two shrubberies, two flowers, and two groundcover plants. I'm still working on the placement of the last two flowers.

I'm caught up enough to allow myself to get more plants...

I have made the decision to Not use the word " Woke ".
Because it plays right into all the things this Nefarious group of
Anti-americans { Like Public School education } is mandating.
It was bad enough to force our Kiddies in grade school to watch
Al Gores' - An Inconvenient Truth -.
But now we gots this Female Shrew {* Devil Woman } who has
this book out - White Fragility - which is about The most insane
attempt to - Animal Farm - our Kids AND ADULTS { Big Business }.
It basically says Whites ... { All Whites are Racist } So Whites need to
admit that they are Racist. And when they don't ... that's proof they are
Racist.Unbelievable.But I kinda felt this kind of thing was coming down the
Pike.Toppling of Statues is more than the proof in the pudding.

    * Robin Diangelo ... " Only white people can be considered racist. "
