Astounding. Bush and Cheney initiate two wars under a false flag "attack" on the WTCs, and it's Obama's fault? All the gains that Bush made in Afghanistan were given up by Obama? And Trump is the only one that can fix it?

Pay attention. Notice that the real common denominator is the MIC that Ike warned us about.... Neither Obama or Trump are within a mile of ending the Bush/Cheney forever wars....

Tit for tat. Washington was behind the Taliban during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan - that had come to be known as Moscow's Vietnam. Funny. Really funny that Al Qaida morphed into the brains behind the attack on NYC' World Trade Centre so the effort to kill Russians came back to bite Washington in the posterior region.

The French got their azzes kicked out of Vietnam so the Yanks rushed in to show froggy how to run a war. So the Yankees also got their buttocks handed to them by the Vietnamese. And now Yankee Doodle thinks he can show the Russians how to win in Afghanistan  but history is set to repeat itself. :lick:

I am very sorry about the digression but in the end (no pun intended) whatever incentive Russian military might have to see Americans fill body bags in Afghanistan falls into the category of "love and war". It's simple, you push me I push you back.

Because you think Clinton was paying a bounty to Chechens who killed Russian soldiers?

You are free to go over there and fight. I admire your patriotism in wanting to do that. In the meantime, all of our troops should be pulled from the Middle East. I suspect we may be needing them in the USA in the very near future, especially if Trump wins the election.

Watch. He will say or do nothing unless it’s to cast doubts on the intelligence findings. I’m sure putin has trump by the shorthairs for something. His pandering can’t be just about protecting his hotels.

I hope the Democrats run on escalating war on the Middle East. That will be real winner for them I am sure.

One of Trump's biggest failures has been his inability to withdraw from the region. Trump explicitly ran on getting us out and it was one of the major factors in people voting for him. I think he has tried several times but each attempt to withdraw failed. I am not sure if Trump failed because he never intended to withdraw or if the establishment stopped him. Given the absolute shoddiness of the press corp, it is nearly impossible to tell.

75% of the troops and their families in Afghanistan support full withdrawal.
61% of the American people support full withdrawal.

    https://today.yougov.com/topics/pol...americans-would-support-withdrawal-afghanista

About the only people who want us over there are the neocons, neolibs, the far left and the billionaires. Nobody else thinks we should be there. Nobody can articulate a coherent national interest in being there. The amount of damage done to America by remaining there is nearly incalculable. The amount of profit for the oligarchs is in the hundreds of billions if not trillions.

FYI, when I was a DoD contractor on my last contract, if I was requested, I didn't have a choice, and I did volunteer for both the Kosovo and Afghanistan.

That is irrelevant, the threat still exists.

A lot of people voted for Obama because they thought he would follow through on the demands the left made on Bush and pull all our people out of that mess. He just gave us more of the same.

Indeed we're very lucky Obama' no longer President; there's no telling where his flexible spine would have led us.
