It is an interesting concept as the ADA is fairly broad in what it covers. The courts might have to decide if mask are covered and if so under what circumstances. I work with a lady who refuse to wear a mask as her ex husband tried to smoother her to death and she has panic attacks if she wears one. Her story true? I've no ideal but if so I can see her point. Would that fall under the ADA due to metal stress?

Unless you are in Oregon and are a racist govt agency and thus exempt mask wearing based on skin color.

I wonder about the enforcement ability for those jurisdictions that have mandated mask wearing. How is that going to be done?

Yes, some merchants can enforce it in their place of business, but what about out on the sidewalk? Are the police going to have a mask patrol?

Northern IL - Our governor has mandated that everyone MUST wear a mask to enter any place of business. I haven't seen anybody turned away for not wearing one though. I can empathize with the business owners, especially for small businesses.

I think it's one of those things that looks easy on paper, but real life application is spotty, at best.

They could do like the Wuhan police and four or five police beat the everlovin' shet out of people not wearing a mask.

Not enough police to patrol to enforce, so the powers that be placed it on the business to enforce.

Are the police going to respond to a call from a business owner who says someone refuses to wear a mask? Maybe in a small town, in a major city I highly doubt it. Business owners and employees are not law enforcement, they can not enforce anything.

In effect it's a unenforceable law.

What is amazing is I bet that gets a bunch of liberal up in arms that people are getting by without wearing a mask when it's mandated. Yet the same liberals are condoning riots by not calling for those scumbags to be arrested as they break the law.

If there's money it, they will enforce it. Ask every little town in America, law enforcement have a knack of making money off the population. Failure to mask will be the new speed traps of the US.

I do think some small towns certainly will. Other don't believe in it so will not enforce it.

Large cities no way they have the manpower to enforce IMO.

And the we will see court cases. New territory.

You start giving people 150 dollar citations, they will be out in full force patrolling. Then like with any other law, people get enough citations the population will start complying. This will be literally the new seatbelt law. You don't need manpower to enforce law on the masses. Just instill fear of financial repercussions and/or incarceration.

I guess mandatory seatbelt, auto insurance, health insurance, house insurance, auto inspections, speed limits, pedestrian crossing, school zones, permits, FDA, Health Inspections, Child welfare services, and the thousands of laws and agency that protect human life are communist China influence. Sounds reasonable.

You know most of those comparisons are inaccurate, I know they're inaccurate so there's no reason to go over all of them. The closest is the mandatory seatbelt. Thing is, it's not an guarantee that the seatbelt keeps anyone safe. Anymore than the mask does! But in general, the more restrictions and boot stomping yes the closer we get to China.

You cheer this on, as a way to combat the virus. But China is flatly lying about its statistics. It claims 90 million tests to only 83K infections.....ROFL, LMFAO. Yeah, sure China. China is the new Nazi Germany of our times, and the sooner we acknowledge that the better.

I didn't cheer this on. I replied to this calling a spade a spade. Someone said it wasn't enforceable and all evidence is to the contrary. Sometimes when someone uncovers something that has been in front of you the realization can be repulsive. We are a nation of laws that are meant to suppress and control the populace.

I am a libertarian by heart, but I have come to the conclusion most people are too greedy and ignorant to make competent decisions for the well being of all. The sheer ignorance and failure of responsibility in this pandemic has only enforced my ideology. The irony is, we wouldn't even be having this discussion of the majority of people were capable of making good decisions.

The cards are fake. Just an attempt to lie to businesses for useless and petty reasons while adding more risk to public health.

    Mask Exemption Cards

This is a good idea as long as it is two sided and the opposite side is a DNR card.

That is not the country we live in. We have so many federal laws we can't even count them(citation here). That's only federal, that doesn't include state and local government.

No, that is not the country we live in, but it IS the spirit and letter of the founding document, described as the Supreme Law of the Land.

When founded, it was a government of limited and defined powers, and natural and procedural rights for the citizens.

Sadly it has grown into a fascist oligarchy, controlled by special interests and their politicians.

Why are you even looking to China, at this point, for statistics? We have enough of our own, right here in this country. Are you not paying attention to them? Are you ignoring them?

I believe business should be able to have those type of restructuring if they want, just not a fan of them being forced to do it.

So you like laws and regulations so much your in favor of more? Where do you draw the line? Or do you draw one at all?

Your post is basically “they already control us so much, might as well submit and let them have as much control as they want”

Didn't you read the link in the OP? The so-called "mask exemption cards" are entirely bogus.

As for the woman you mention, while I understand her panic response, I can only say that she's a rare exception and shpuld probably just stay home as much as possible. Her mask isn't just about her, it's also about others with whom she may cone in contact.

Some places have made masks mandatory, with a fine to be paid by those not in compliance. This is not unconstitutional in the current circumstances, where going maskless could have dire consequences, if not to you, perhaps to others.

Since so many just don't get it, I'll repeat once again: your freedom to go maskless ends where possible harm to others begins.
