None of those complaining about attitudes died in that war either. They are complaining about attitudes- but not their own attitudes, which allow the burning, looting and riot violence.
Apparently they feel that a feeling of respect and love for the black community will come out of that?

Common sense and reason doesn't have a role when the people you deal with refuse to use it. The thugs are making the rules. Tolerant people have been bending over backwards in sympathy and tolerance, and getting shat on for doing it. Soon, the tolerance will come to an end, and they will use the rules the thugs insist on used against them. It's overdue.

That of course is absolutely not the truth. It is simple dont commit a crime no matter what color you are, and the police are not any kind of a problem that you want to gin up.

I dont hate democrats, I just dont like their politics, and the fact they keep sliding to the radical left.

If there is any hatred it is generated by the democrat party.

The total number of deaths for BOTH sides was 620,000. You are trying to include the 250,000 Confederate soldiers who fought to KEEP slavery in the total of Union deaths. That is FALSE. Why did you lie in your initial statement about that?

I don't belong to EITHER party, so I have no problem saying that the majority of Southern States had Democrats in power. There
were also Democrats is Congress from Northern States.

None of that changes the FACT that you claimed that 620,000 white soldiers died trying to end slavery, which is a false statement on your part since 250,000 of those soldiers were fighting to keep slaves as slaves.

Floyd didn't commit any crime at the time of his arrest, nor did many of the people killed by police. You seem blind to the fact of police brutality towards people of colour.

The fact is that while the Emancipation was the only moral thing to do and much blood was spilled to achieve that we only did half the job. After the war blacks were set adrift without any plan for them. They were free but with no prospects and the government abandoned them. I know this sounds odd coming from a conservative but we should have done more for them then. Even the European immigrants in the north who were just scraping by had more to look forward to. So one can see how deep these things run. In the 155 years since the end of of the civil war, we've enacted all sorts of laws to end discrimination and made all sorts of accommodations but we really dropped the ball when it came to make blacks feel a part of the American fraternity. Every step of the way was doubly hard and second best compared to everyone else. The Democrats always gave them only enough to stay on the hook but no more. So it's not systemic, institutional and pervasive racism that is keeping American blacks down, it's the plantation the Democrats never really gave up. Opportunity and equality are really there but who can blame them to trust anyone especially now. Now they are pawns in a cynical game the Democrats invented to influence opinion and the politics of the coming election after which they will be forgotten again especially if the Dems were to win. We need to do more after president Trump is re-elected. Reparations is just more political hocus pocus, now you see it, now you don't and not very realistic, it would bankrupt the country. Reparations would cost more than all the wars since the revolution combined and would be only a band aid on something that may never heal. One thing we really need to do is to divorce ourselves from the lie that is diversity, it is the most valued tool of those who want to divide us. We need to reconnect to our nationalism and become one nation, to honor all cultures but be Americans first, all of us. For all of the last century and part of this one we've been preoccupied with the affairs of the rest of the world while neglecting our own, it's really time to make the American dream come true for all of us. We are the greatest nation to ever exist and we should be proud of that and let all those who hate America, especially those who were born here, know that.

I'm sorry we have made you hate us, I hope that makes you feel better. Do you think that calling Democrats names, repeating half truths or even lies you have been told and trying to put Democrats down on a regular basis will convince them of the errors of their ways? Do you think they will be more apt to support those things that you hold dear? Will it make them more likely to vote for your candidates in November?
Or, are you just mean enough to feel superior when you put them down and find confirmation that you are OK because there are others here that feel the same way you do.

That doesn't make your OP any more truthful or accurate.

And oh yea...those Dems of 170 years ago were NOT progressives nor liberals. Republicans were the progressives of THAT day.

    So save your partisan bullshit

Of course, you know he didn't lie; he just used the total instead of the breakdown between sides. It's an error in semantics; regardless- one hall of a lot of men died to end slavery.
But that is the rule on the left. if they mis-speak it's a lie, it you mis-speak it's still the truth. How convenient to have a rubber ruler for such things.
Why do you call that a lie when you actually know what's behind it? Because you chose to. You knew, better, and chose to.

You talk about knowing history so how is it you think there were 620,000 Union soldiers killed?

Almost no one died in the Civil War fighting for or against slavery. The south was fighting for economic independence and the north was fighting to preserve the Union. And the individual soldiers were mostly conscripts on both sides, fighting to simply avoid jail. The slave owners had the money to buy their way out of service, they were fighting from their porches with martinis and only died if they forgot to evacuate when the battle moved into their front yard. The only folks fighting to free the slaves were the freed blacks volunteering for the north.

So from what you post the southern democrats had two strikes against them. First they wanted to keep their slaves, and now you say they bought thier way out of the war. Yup democrats then and now are really "fine" people. The example of now is went all the democrat cowards ran off to Canada during Vietnam!!! The Carter a southern democrat let them come back scott free.

Most of the north wasn't fighting for the express purpose of ending slavery. They were fighting to re-unite the Union. Though, yes, the Southern state governments who seceded were primarily motivated by the preservation of slavery.

Vietnam was a tragedy of epic proportions. We should've just told the dirty French to leave Vietnam the F alone, and both the north and south would've been our ally forever.

Granted, this wasn't exactly readily available information at the time... all our troops were told was 'go fight communism.' But the Vietnamese were fighting for Nationalism more than anything else, and they were looking to the US as the great liberator right up until we starting killing them for the dirty Fing French colonialists who had threatenned to join up with Russia if we didn't.

That whole thing was just us letting France **** on the world.

I haven't heard a thank you for 200+ years of free labor either. I also haven't heard an apology for 100 years of Jim Crow laws, segregation, burning and bombing of our homes and churches, lynchings.
Come on. Say "Thank you" and "I'm sorry".
