The DA who is fighting embezzlement and sexual harassment charges and is losing a re-election race with a leftwing challenger?

Yes he was, multi-shot taser, could still be used for direct contact IF the officer was even aware it was a taser and didn't think the man had pulled a concealed derringer or taken his partner's pistol.

So should he have charged them or not?

That's not the issue, the issue is he DID but does not consider it an attack with a lethal firearm here. What's the difference?

Because they are a much Better alternative then using brute force or a gun.

Yea a person might be killed by a TASER, but the odds are that person will live, and be just fine.

Years ago I got involved in a fight, a friend of mine was trying to get a knife away from a guy trespassing who turned into an attacker, versus just getting off my buddies property, it was dark, I was holding a 3 cell D battery MagLite, I had a gun in my pocket but was afraid to use it as the round might pass through the guy with the knife and nail my buddy, so while holding my MagLite at the lamp end I nailed the guy in the spine between the shoulder blades with the battery cap end, I was trained that move can be very painful and commonly causes a person to drop to the ground for a while, which he did.

Unfortunately for me, the guy ended up partially paralyzed and he did what all injured criminals do, he lawyered up and sued me, my insurance company settled out of court for a pittance, his attorney probably took enough out of the settlement to buy a used Beamer, and the guy I nailed probably got enough to hire someone to wheel him around for a few years and maybe buy a Ham sandwich or two.

If at the time I had a TASER, I would have deployed that at close range and while he would have been very uncomfortable because of that, he would still be alive, and then I could have had the pleasure of sending him off to jail for a few months.

TASERS are a nice alternative to using deadly force, which is why I carry one, as well as a concealed firearm.

That's very common in law enforcement shootings, there was a shooting up in Polk County where a guy who executed a Deputy opened fire on the SWAT team who was trying to take him into custody, something 111 rounds where fired and the perp was hit 63 times, too bad, not sad, many years back in South Florida during the Cocaine Cowboy era, a drug deal went South in South Miami, the dealer opened fire on some DEA agents, they and a number of other federal agents returned fire, something like 2000 rounds where fired, the Dade County Medical Examiner described the guys body as unrecognizable as a human body and called it the worst case of overkill he had ever seen.

I saw the guys vehicle, it looked like a colander.

What happens during a shooting like that is the bad guy opens fire and everyone gets pumped by by being shot at, so they just let it rip, back then the Cocaine Cowboys standard firearm was a MAC-10, it is a small machine pistol, an open bolt, slam fire machine, it can dump 30 rounds in about 1.5 seconds, in .45 ACP it's tough to hold on to when firing, it doesn't have forward stock and the charging handle is on the top so you really could not hold it down that way, and in front of the trigger is a couple of useless inches.

As such it was a lead sprayer.

Now what few people, many of them here fail to realize is, a person being shot at gets pumped, the brain shifts into survival mode, this is tough to simulate in training, getting into a fight before that starts the process even before being shot at.

While I was not there more than likely what happened at the Wendy's up there was, first the fight with a idiot trying to disarm an officer, that shifts the both of the officers minds into survival mode, the idiot breaks loose with the officers TASER, he is now an armed violent felon who has attacked a law enforcement officer, he rabbits and is pursued, he turns and fires the TASER at the officer, the officer returns fire, did he drop the TASER before being shot or did he drop it after being shot, it doesn't matter, the officer is in survival mode, which is nearly impossible to shift out of until the present threat is neutralized.

And while this may disappoint those who are in promoting a anti-law enforcement narratives or pulling the race card, it has nothing to do with either, two men's lives where threatened, they did what they their minds ran them to do to stay alive.

I don't care that the TASER used had a single cartridge, there is no one on this planet who would even think about that once they have been shot at, they just want to stay alive.

Anyone who claims otherwise has never been on the streets and been shot at, they literally have no clue of how such a shooting goes down.

That was a single cartridge TASER, but that doesn't matter, once a person goes into survival mode that are not concerned with how many shots the present threat has left, the only solution at that point is to neutralize the threat.

Also keep in mind even without a cartridge a TASER is a dangerous weapon that can be used in Drive Stun Mode to take a person down.

Nope. That's what the nazi's make up to smear a black man.
    https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/06/24/rayshard-brooks-criminal-past/

That is... physically resisting arrest. Pray tell how fleeing after that would suggest he would cause serious bodily harm to random people?

He operated a car while sleeping? And a sleeping person posed a danger?
Sounds only black people are able to be like that, according to you.

A cop... with underlying health issues, arresting people at night? LMAO

I am bringing in up the color. I don't see why not. Doesn't make me racist, when I accuse cops of being racist. All kinds of data supports that they predominantly are racist.

Almost no evidence supports cops being racist in a general sense.

    Two can play that game.

As death toll keeps rising, U.S. communities start rethinking Taser use

Tim Reid, Peter Eisler, Grant Smith
    10 Min Read

(Reuters) - Warren Ragudo died after two Taser shocks by police intervening in a family altercation. Ramzi Saad died after a Taser shock by police during a dispute between Saad and his mother. Chinedu Okobi died after police used a Taser to subdue him in a confrontation they blamed on his refusal to stop walking in traffic.

A lie hurts worse. There is nothing but history that proves that statement false.

When I had a DUI and went to court, the courthouse had Roman Numerals on the doors. A badly dressed man came up and was hanging around outside courtroom number IX, where I was supposed to go, and we talked for a while. A black guy approached him and asked where courtroom number 9 was, and he directed him way off. I kept my mouth shut, good thing, he was the judge. That does not mean judges are predominately racists.

Sounds like the judge we have out here, I was waiting in a jury pool when the judge comes in and tells us we are dismissed, he went on to explain the trial a DUI we where scheduled for turned into a plea bargain, judge snickered and then said the guy is smart he took the plea, I didn't have time for breakfast today and I am in a cranky mood and would have sent upstate for a few years.

Please provide substantial evidence the general rule of thumb cops are racists.
