I don't know about that but this article from Huff Post is about that reading levels are woefully below what is needed to attend college. The sad thing is that colleges now are more concerned with enrollment than the caliber of students they're admitting, some are even dropping the SAT as criteria for admittance.

Cut and paste where in that article that it says that. It does not. Prove me wrong. The headline does not say that. The link does not say that. The article does not say that. My biggest concern is that nowhere in that article does it say that. I suppose the bogus headline could have been added depending upon where you copied that link.

Very little responsibility if any. Of course many black American families, including single parent families do manage to overcome the hurdles a century of Big Bad Government policies have placed before them.
Nevertheless, Big Bad Government, including its education system, has been very successful when it comes to destroying the black American family, community and culture.

Ahhh....the soft bigotry of lowered expectations. What role do you suppose that the illegitimacy rate plays in the community's lack of stressing education?

If I were African American I would be truly LIVID at your condescension and pretending like my children are unable to succeed on their own volition. If one needs to depend upon the government for success they are in dire straights indeed! I wholly reject that bogus notion. The black community is more than capable of creating their own success and indeed many do succeed greatly.

Wait, your stats show that black people (only 13% of the population) commit the most violent crime in America.

Why would you make this thread? lol

    Meanwhile in Chicago...

Are Democrat racists so dumb they need hoods, since they already know who's there?

    It's their HEADLINE!:
CBS NEWS, ”Officials: 80 Percent Of Recent NYC High School Graduates Cannot Read" CBS, 3/7/13.
    http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/03...recent-nyc-high-school-graduates-cannot-read/;-)

The headline was from that article. CBS was forced to change it - later.
IOW, revisionism. Do you approve of that? ;-)

I take no exception with the notion that far too many inner city schools have kids whose skills are not up to par. That is a far different standard however from saying that "80% cannot read"....ESPECIALLY when his article says no such thing.

When everybody gets done arguing FBI accuracy in stats, let's just recall how they had such an active role in trying to oust a sitting President. There can't be enough of them fired to send the message that they screwed up.

If they were forced to change it, that is because the article says no such thing. I suppose that is a quintessential example of fake news.Thank goodness I caught it.

And what say you about colleges lowering their standards to accommodate the deficient? Can you plausibly assure us these lowered standards will benefit our nation overall, and not be just more pandering to excuse teacher deficiencies?

I cited the article with the original headline, because that is how CBS News characterized the failure of the heavily subsidized NYC school system.

Conservatives did not come to that conclusion. CBS News did:

"The headline at CBS New York started the ball rolling: "Officials: 80 Percent Of Recent NYC High School Graduates Cannot Read."
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/conservative-blogs-think-yorkers-cant-read-not-reading-151312047.html

The question that the articles do not answer:
"Can high school dropouts in NYC read better that the graduates?" ;-)

The black American family was destroyed by deliberate government policies and actions.

Which studies would those be? When I look at international statistics, I see a clear correlation between race and crime, especially the life-changing violent crime people fear most:

    https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/stats/Crime/Violent-crime/Murder-rate-per-million-people

Of the 50 countries with the highest murder rates, all but three are in Latin America or sub-Saharan Africa. Of the 50 countries with the lowest murder rates, none is in Latin America or sub-Saharan Africa.

Hmmm. I have no problem with community colleges offering remedial programs. I would take exception if the remedial program replaced the actual program required to graduate.

They are responsible for 25% of the crime, yet only comprise 13% of the population.

    Hmmm... basic math skills man.

Hmmm. Since we are pulling irrelevant tangents out of our backside.....nor does it answer how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
