The US is essentially a one party state with 2 factions. Both serve the ruling class. A Princeton study concluded that:
The purpose of the Democratic party is to suppress the Left while maintaining the illusion of a 2 party system.

The FBI works to sabotage the Left. On Tucker Carlson's show, former FBI Assistant Director Terry Turchie stated that "one of the missions of the FBI in its counterintelligence efforts was to try to keep" progressives out of government.

The "progressives" that make it to Congress are co-opted by the party. Bernie, AOC & the squad all serve to placate the Left and sheepdog for the party.

There is a huge problem with US governance. Some posit it could improve with a sort of ranked voting. I choose Trump as 1, A libertarian 2, A green 3 and Biden as 4 etc. Add it all up and rather than a simple majority, you get whoever in this ranking gets the over-all most positive outcome. I'd like to try it.

Of course both parties serve the ruling class. That is what the ruling class does: it rules.

It doesn't really matter who is elected President. The orders still come from Wall St.

Yeah. No kidding. And "1+1=2". Everybody gets that.

That said, the Dems are Exponentially Preferable to the GOP.

That's intellectual laziness and cowardice on your part. The two sides are not even close to being alike, and pretending they are is effectively doing the bidding of the Republicans.

I get it. You think your sense of moral purity is more important than real people suffering and dying. Being morally pure is easy. You can sit on your ass and do nothing, and then lord it over everyone with stories of being above it all.

Lord save us from the morally pure. While you're pontificating, us morally impure folk will be fighting the fight that you consider to be beneath you.

(Given the age of the OP, I'll assume he's not a Russian troll. You do have to check that out, since "Both sides are exactly alike!" is a standard Russian troll talking point, one intended to get liberals to not vote.)

Yeah, and the Republican party is the scapegoat to keep the Democrats' offerings in check when the Dems really don't want something they advertise to their base/voters to take effect.

When it comes to issues of policy, the 2 parties agree with only differences on the margins if any at all.

Obama's entire cabinet was chosen by Citigroup. He gave 95% of the income gains to the top 1%.

Some 95% of 2009-2012 Income Gains Went to Wealthiest 1% - Real Time Economics - WSJ

The ACA was a Republican healthcare plan until Obama adopted it. He tried to cut Social Security. He had a policy of 'drill, baby drill' like John McCain. Obama made the Bush tax cuts permanent. He made the banks bigger and let them kick millions of people out of their homes. He pushed TPP right to the end of his tenure.

Nearly 95% of all new jobs during Obama era were part-time, or contract By Investing.com

Pardon my purity. I'll stop there

Let's see we have two party rule, each party spends time in the majority where it can pass it's agenda. We have never ending wars and eye watering debt. The same problems no matter which party is in power and nothing gets fixed. So, yeah, they're basically the same.
