    I never said she should be. There are some incredibly superficial women who worship her, because she can afford high priced stylists and has the time to spend hours in a chair while makeup and hair are done for her. I am not one of them.

    I have never understood either the worship of, nor the hatred of, first ladies. There are a few I do admire, but due to their achievements; nothing to do with looks, clothes, nor the party of her husband.

    But, it's just like all things with partisans. First, check the party, then check the talking points, then, parrot talking points as if they are your own opinion.

    I don't find the OP on page one of this thread to be classless. It was a commentary on the election results and in no way degrading to Hillary Clinton. If nothing else the OP should have posted Bill Clinton in a dress ala,

    Now there is really a lighthearted look at the never to be FLOTUS.
    As for bitterness from abroad, I realize many living in other countries are jealous of the freedoms we here have and take that out on the administration in the US regardless of who is in power.
    It's OK, I was just venting at the onesidedness of that particular posters attacks on a woman who obviously wishes she was not in the position she has found herself.

    We agree. Although I have in the past been guilty of doing the same I have come to realize that presidents' families, especially those that choose to remain in the background, should be left alone.

    Agreed, however, it is infuriating to watch one woman claim that Michelle is not the mother to her two children, while simultaneously worshiping Melania because she has millions to spend on clothes, stylists, makeup artists, and has hours to sit in a chair and be made pretty for appearances.

    So, it's a bit understandable.

    I'm grateful that my personality doesn't allow me to worship anyone; famous, rich, powerful, good looking, etc.
    Nor do I hate anyone for any of that, either.

    I suppose this change of heart came around 2016 and will change back in Jan next year???

    to be honest though there is nothing I could say that would be as nasty as the posts on this thread about Michelle

    and that is what really gets up my nose - the worship of looks and pretty fashion over intelligence and diligence. My comment earlier about what has Melania done during the current crisis was pertinent - please remember Marie Antoinette as An example of what happens hen rulers show no compassion to the populace

    This has been debunked, thoroughly. She was a victim of circumstance, and she never said a word about cake. She had very little control, in reality.

    Actually Marie Antoinette was really out of touch. She had compassion and was concerned that the population lacked bread to eat and suggested that they eat cake since bread was unavailable.
    Clueless doesn't begin to describe her.

    Marie Antionette was completely out of touch though. She had an unrealistically idyllic fake farm a mile or so away from Versaille where she would ‘play peasant with her ladies’. Goats would be washed and have ribbons tied to them before she milked them.
