I can already see where this is going. The left institutes a feel good program where counselors will respond to what some dispatcher thinks is a non violent call, things like drug abuse and mental health problems. And I'm betting a lot of those types of calls end up being violent, and if they happen not to get violent, it's because an armed cop is often a deterrent to violence.

So what will happen after a few social workers get robbed, raped or murdered you ask? The police will resume their normal duties, and the newly hired social workers in their newly formed agency will still exist and suck up tax dollars. Once a government program is created it never dies.

    Priceless.
So I guess they'll be hiring psychics to do the dispatching?

This crap is so crazy it's hard to believe it's not a joke.

Unfortunately they'll probably have to sacrifice a few social workers before they realize their ideologies don't match reality. Sort of like how CHOP's summer of love came to an end when they started shooting each other.

I really don’t see them responding to the Compton or Watts areas, but at least these “community responders” will get to see some nice homes in Brentwood and Beverly Hills.

It's all "non-violent' until someone goes ape-sht crazy on you. How much would you want to earn to fill a community responder position?

    There's the current LAPD salary.

I'm thinking how this will play out. Someone will get attacked shot or stabbed, and from then on men of these responders will respond to anything without police escort.

Now I don't think it's a bad idea to have other people with the police, people trained in dealing with crisis, and drug users. the problem is those people probably spend a lot of money on school and they want to get paid a lot of money. So you can't defund the police you have to put more money into it.

But the way they're approaching this someone's going to get hurt or killed and that'll be the end of it.

FIRST they have to find folks crazy enough to take the job. I would say good luck to that.

A guy I went to highschool with, Boober Johnson, don't know why they called him Boober, but they just did. Big monster of a guy, center on the football team, but the nicest guy you'd ever meet. Just a big, happy-go-lucky teddy bear of a lunk.

After college Boober took a job as a CPS(Child Protective Services) investigator. One day Boober shows up at a house to do a wellness check on a kid, a nice, pleasant, non-violent, routine wellness check. Only problem, the 11-year-old he was sent to check up on was a paranoid schizo with "a history".

Boober walks up to the front door, reaches for the doorbell, and POW! Boober is knocked flat on his ass, having just been shot in the balls by the .22 rifle whose barrel was poking out of the basement window.

Yeah, the 11-year-old got a little panicky when he saw the hulking CPS kid snatcher that was coming to take him away.

Boober managed to walk away from that one with a severe limp, and he did go on father two kids. And that's why God gives you a set of the jewels.

    The moral of the story-

All calls to the authorities are non-violent...

Right up until the second you're flat on your ass with one less nut in your pouch.

Generally speaking most people are profoundly ignorant of police work. So I don't doubt they will find enthusiastic people to take the job.

Just that they will learn very quickly how dangerous it can really be. And I think they will find they either don't have the grit or the stomach for it.

I didn't for a little less than a year, mostly traffic. But I worked with a lot of seasoned police officers. I didn't have what it takes.

They left the breath mints alone as well!

Back on topic, domestic disturbances are already dangerous for armed police. People on drugs or going through withdrawal are unpredictable and potentially dangerous.

Brentwood maybe but not BH. Those megabucks people have their own city with its own elite police department.

One of my brothers-in-law is an LAPD officer. It can be a very tough job but he doesn't go elsewhere mainly because he has a family and contrary to smaller departments, in LAPD you always have a partner with you on patrol to get your back so to speak.

Among the most difficult things my brother-in-law deals with are domestic violence callouts. He and his partner will be dispatched to a home and by the time they get there the woman has figured out that she can't pay the rent if her man can't work because he's behind bars so the woman will claim the man just scared her but she got her injuries from tripping over the coffee table. A couple times my brother-in-law has heard that kind of tale but saw a gun sitting there with blood on it and it was apparent the guy pistol whipped the woman so they took him into custody anyway. You have to wonder how a social worker would handle that . . .

The number of people fleeing California is growing. BY PHILLIP REESE

    NOVEMBER 05, 2019 05:20 AM

Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon apparently looked pretty good to a lot of Californians last year.

About 691,000 people left California to live in other states in 2018, new census estimates indicate.

I took the police test years ago. I passed the physical part, but on the psych part I wasn't aggressive enough. The thugs would have killed me before I did anything.
