    I didn't say otherwise I said

It makes a buffer around it as Washington intended. The more you segment it the more you defeat the purpose and harder to manage.

So far, Maryland has stated that they don't want DC.

Are you suggesting it would be better to use some sort of federal power to force Maryland to take DC?

I also have to point out that eqal representation is NOT DECK STACKING.

What is YOUR justification for seeking out a solution where DC continues to have less representation than does Wyoming or Vermont?

Demanding that they continue having LESS representation IS deck stacking.

They can not vote outside of committees. Thus their lobbying is worthless.

Yes, and I'm saying that bs.

As I pointed out, Washington put a limit on how big it could be. There is nothing precluding it being smaller - say, encompassing the federall campus including properties reasonably seen as perpetually related to our government, its history and as needed for security concerns.

There are nearly 3/4 of a million people living there. It's not as if the federal campus hasn't already made room for them.

There is NO JUSTIFICATION for them being ruled by the federal House, in which they have no equal representation.

And, there is NO element of anything being "harder to manage".

What's harder to manage is a state so depricated that it can't even vote its own taxes, borrow money, set a budget, or tak other actions that ANY similar population within America does in normal course of business.

That being said, it was a pretty nice place to live, at least for a white boy. Great theater, nightlife and music, fantastic museums, best restaurant city in the US I would judge.

I shudder to think what DC will be like under Black rule, another Trenton or Camden. Marion Barry was the mayor when I lived there, arrested for crack cocaine.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It IS broken. It's running under a system of government that is similar to what we held a revolutionary war against.

The rules under which DC is subjugated are against our very principles of government of, by and for the people.

Nobody can suggest it isn't broken - except possibly in the sense that it was never allowed to have the kind of government our founders fought and died for.

Now, there you are mistaken. I can claim it isn't broken. But I judge brokeness by results, not principles.

Good point - you can claim anything you want.

    Results are important, of course.

But, if great results are gained by unprincipled means it does NOT mean it isn't broken.

Look at Southern plantations! There were many who claimed that slavery was highly successful!!

And, it's also a major program of humanitarian criminality against mankind.

The principles we stand for ARE fundamental. They are not discretionary, to be ignored if someone is getting wealthy or whatever.

When you were there DC was still called the Chocolate City. It was and still is a great place for people of any race.

It was for me. For a white boomer it had all the advantages of a big city but the coziness of a small town. Also back then Democrats and Republicans were not mortal enemies. They went to the same parties and could have civil discussions about important issues. Bork changed all that.

Politics is the strife of interest masquerading as the contest of principles.

What would you think of this solution which satisfies your principles but gives little or no advantage to Democrats:

    Return DC to Maryland.

What's sad is that most here have no clue to how our constitutional republic actually works and the intention our founders had between the states and the federal government.

I just laugh at this notion that, somehow, the very seat of federal power doesn't have representation in federal governing. I also laugh at the notion that population size is now a prescriber for statehood. I continue to laugh that the pro-DC statehood types give a damn about 'representation'. Where's their love of representation for the people of north California who live under the crushing boot of a radical progressive system they don't want, or the people in border towns who deal with the daily threat of cartel violence that do-gooder open border types living thousands of miles away ignore, or the black residents of inner cities who are now facing surging crime rates thanks to suburban white liberals and their anti-cop rampages, or the residents of rural areas who's population dense cities claim the bulk of governing seats and monies, and hell please tell me all about the grand goals of representation as leftist run states across this country sign interstate national popular vote agreements attempting to effectively dismantling the very representation based protection that is the electoral college.

My justification is simple - corrupt people shall not corrupt a process in order to give themselves power.

Whats the justification? The Constitution.... I'm sure this has been explained to you. The Federal Seat of Power can NOT also be a State.. The reasons why should be obvious.

If DC residents want equal representation there are ways to expand Maryland like you even said its been done before.

They do not have any interest in any idea that does not give Democrats 2 more seats in the senate.

Is about parity. “Giving it back” is no different than creating a new state when it comes to “stacking the deck” for one side or the other. At some point we have to address the unequal representation in this country. If 19 million people have the ability to override the other 220 million, that’s beyond unequal. And before we go back to “the founding fathers....” discussion, we have to realize and address the fact that when they created the process, we had 13 “colonies” with almost equal voting population distribution, even with “the 3/5 compromise”.

Three states NY, CA, FL, have almost 1/3 of the population of the United States (80 million +) and they get 6 votes in the senate. In comparison, WY, VM, AL with 2 million people get the number of votes. There is a reason that we have “swing states” when in reality federal elections should be about the country, not the state.

And it seems to be OK for the right because they get less votes and more power, which, lets be honest here, is why they suppress the voter at every turn.

    Ummmm WHAT ?

“Harder to mange” ? That’s why we shouldn’t let 1 million people actually have a vote, because it “harder to manage” ?

You proceed form a false premise.
The US is NOT a democracy -- parts of our system were set up -specifically- so the minority could "override" the majority.

You may not like the fact WY has the same representation on the senate as CA - but to change this, you'll need to amend the constitution.
Note that the 13 states most likely to vote no on this contain about 7% of the population.

Give the DC residential areas back to MD, and keep the area occupied by the federal apparatus as DC.
    Issue solved.

the residential areas of DC will bankrupt MD with increased crime and welfare spending.

presently the government workers in DC are recycling taxpayer money within the federal apparatus.
