I know one family where the wife contacted it at work. She lost her sense of taste so was tested. Her kid and husband were continually exposed throughout her “bout” with C19. Neither were tested. Either C19 is not as contagious as advertised or the husband and kid had it without confirmation. Can’t have it both ways. Logically you have to pick one.

Only 10-20% of “colds” are caused by coronavirus. Most are rhinovirus infections(40-50%), and another 20% or so are parainfluenza caused. Interestingly, the remainder are caused by unidentified viruses. Because mutation rates of viruses are negatively correlated with the number of base pairs in their RNA strands, influenza and rhinovirus mutate much faster than coronavirus. Influenza and rhinovirus have around 13,000 and 7000 base pairs respectively, while coronavirus have around 30,000 base pairs. Based on this knowledge, SARS-CoV-2 should be pretty stable as far as mutations affecting immunity.
Beware of reporting on this issue. None of the reporting I’ve seen admits antibody levels decrease quite quickly after all viral infections. They also fail to mention the T cell immunity independent of antibodies.

This is pre-print research but quite interesting.

If those are the same scientists working for A. Fauci, I'm not even interested.

Considering the fact that daily infections have nearly tripled to 56,000 he's looking pretty accurate

Are young asymptomatic people getting covid a catastrophe? I'd call it herd immunity.

Fauci is being attacked by Trumpers because he's "inconvenient" to them

Familiar pattern. Evidence, facts, and reason are attacked by Trumpers because they are "inconvenient" to him. No other reason.

Since this "herd immunity" in reference to COVID-19 has little or basis in fact as of yet, the glowing reports from Trumpies of the "wonderland of health and prosperity" that awaits as soon as everyone gets back to work with no precautions, instead anyone with any sense will wait for Dr. Fauchi to announcement rather than Dr. Trump!

I crated a thread a couple of months ago, predicting that Fauci would become the RW enemy. Of course, back then I was ridiculed and called spreader of fake news by our resident Trump fan posters. Now see what has happened....

Yep I remember. How was the humble pie? I’m joking with the pie, you definitely achieved prophet status by making the call early.

It is fascinating how the public accepts and rejects authorities with no sense of logic. I still can’t figure out the acceptance of Birx by progressives and liberals. I’ve never seen anyone with her beliefs accepted by progressives. I think everyone was hoping Fauci was someone who would be forthright and apolitical but it just isn’t what you get in a lifelong bureaucrat. I still think he’s the best we can expect so ousting him is pointless.

Fauci is being defended by those who do not yet realize they've been deceived.

Haven't seen anything so far that looks like NY when their hospitals succeeded at flattening the curve. Nothing even half-way close. The entire USA is succeeding in flattening the curve, and that is the goal that was set from the beginning -- by the illustrious Dr. Fauci.

Plus, the new daily deaths for the USA continue trending downward.

So get off your fat sit bones, science, and give the people something that actually works to put an end to this epidemic. Quit trying to run out the clock for political purposes.

Like others before it throughout the history of mankind, this epidemic will run its course and end. That it is an engineered virus and released as a form of biological and psychological warfare might change some of the usual dynamics, and time will tell.

That congressional preparation began for this staged event a year earlier, all bets are off on exactly what will play out. What is certain already is that the rich got richer and the poor got poorer.

Note the beginning date on this government website: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/748/all-info

I am a Physical Chemist, who have tendency to be contrarian and not accepting authority easily. I think it is important to question authority. It is also important to agree with authority, if the facts they present are correct.

I think Fauci should have told the truth about face masks at the start of the pandemic. However, he had reasonable motive, i.e. trying to protect the medical community, who needed the face masks first. A public run on face masks needed to be avoided, especially considering that at that time the number of confirmed cases was very low, i.e. the likelihood of a mask helping was low. A mask only helps when you actually have contact with an infected person.

So, do I agree with Fauci's method? No. Do I agree with the reasoning behind it? Yes. Apart from that one slip of judgement, Fauci has presented himself admirably throughout the whole crisis.
