If "them" are the pricks trying to tear down monuments and statues, then yes.

I'm as committed to the civil rights of Democrats as I am any other. I'm PROUD to call this Democrat couple my fellow citizens.

WALL STREET JOURNAL: The Gun Sales of June: When citizens conclude cops won’t protect them, they buy firearms.

Patricia and Mark McCloskey are the couple made instantly famous—or infamous—after a video showed them wielding firearms as they fended off protesters who had trespassed on private property outside their St. Louis home.

The Circuit Attorney for St. Louis, Kimberly Gardner, reacted by issuing a statement saying she planned an investigation, and that her office will not tolerate any effort to chill peaceful protest by the “threat of deadly force.” Never mind that Mr. McCloskey says he and his wife feared they’d be killed. As they told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “the only thing that kept those mobsters, that crowd, away from us is that we were standing there with guns.”

If soaring gun sales are a guide, millions of Americans are with the McCloskeys. This week the FBI announced a record 3.9 million background checks for June, the highest monthly total since the FBI began keeping the statistic in 1998. Adjusting to reflect checks only for gun purchases, the National Shooting Sports Foundation says this works out to 2.2 million, a 136% increase over June 2019. NSSF spokesman Mark Oliva says about 40% of these checks are for first-time gun buyers.

This is a warning to the Defund the Police movement about unintended consequences. The more progressives push policies that mean cops won’t be around when people need them, the more they are inviting Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights to protect themselves.

The police aren’t there to protect the public from criminals, they’re there to protect criminals from the public.

I just would like to have a decent person back on the helm, who selects his cabinet with a standard of knowledge and decency.
4 years, good enough for me.
Just bring back some decency, all Biden has to do bring in some good decent, professional people in his administration, calm down the country, if possible, just slow down the insanity, nothing else.
Any person who can do that, please.

Just lets get back to role up our sleeves, overcome the virus and rebuilt the country and deal with the race issues in a decent manner, the grievance have a solid base and need to be addressed in a pragmatic way, now.

All Biden has to do, bring in the right people and than sit out his 1 term in the White House, I think he knows that and can do it.

Not a mention of the bounty placed on the heads of current U.S, military by Putin's Russia but a great deal of concern for long dead Confederate soldiers statuary.
Dirty Donald as is usual has his priorities all screwed up.

    Fake News

In Mount Rushmore speech, Trump condemns “left-wing cultural revolution,” “far-left fascism.”

They attack him, but who they really hate is US.
President Donald Trump vowed a strong defense of American heritage and denounced recent attacks on monuments across the country, as well as efforts to silence dissent against "far-left fascism."

"We will never surrender the spirit and the courage, and the cause of July 4, 1776. Upon this ground we will stand firm and unwavering."

Trump's address referred to Marxist ideology promoted by the Black Lives Matter movement, along with "cancel culture" and recent monument attacks as a "left-wing cultural revolution" that will not ultimately triumph in the United States.

"This movement is openly attacking the legacies of every person on Mount Rushmore," Trump said. The iconic monument bears the faces of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.

The president also described the creation of a large new garden park that will hold statues of the "greatest Americans to ever live." Following the speech, the White House released the content of an executive order establishing the "National Garden." The order lists 31 people that will be represented in the park.

With the singular obvious exception of Scalia, that's not a horrible list...

Scalia is not even in the top 5 SCOTUS options...

Put Thomas Edison on over Scalia....

Also, hard to put Patton on there and not find a space for Ike, as combined President and war leader... Replace Davy Crockett with Ike.

I'd be curious how many of those people Trump could identify by sight or deeds... I'd go more than 10 but under half.

Edit - Also where the hell is FDR?? I think you could lose Stowe or Audie Murphy for FDR....

Trump's clearly the choice of those that love Americans.

Trump’s finest speech — and a press that beclowns itself in boiling hate.

President Trump delivered the speech of his presidency at Mount Rushmore Friday, a magnificent affirmation to Americans on their 244th national birthday that what they have always cherished is still cherished, along with a warning shot to those who hate and despise all the United States stands for. It was non-partisan — there was no mention of Democrats or Joe Biden. It was inclusive — celebratory of people of all races, and celebratory in particular of the singularity of America being great for such diversity. It was also big-hearted, magnanimous, celebrating all the range of achievements of the country. Yet it also did the thing Trump does best, which is to call out and identify authentic enemies, stating that he knows who they are, what their game is, and that he won't let them win. In this era, that was necessary shadow.

Trump began by restating the entire meaning of the holiday:

Our founders launched not only a revolution in government, but a revolution in the pursuit of justice, equality, liberty, and prosperity. No nation has done more to advance the human condition than the United States of America and no people have done more to promote human progress than the citizens of our great nation. It was all made possible by the courage of 56 patriots who gathered in Philadelphia 244 years ago and signed the Declaration of Independence. They enshrined a divine truth that changed the world forever when they said, "All men are created equal." These immortal words set in motion the unstoppable march of freedom. Our founders boldly declared that we are all endowed with the same divine rights, given us by our Creator in Heaven, and that which God has given us, we will allow no one ever to take away ever.

No need to replace anyone! There’s a process so that more can be nominated for inclusion in this garden of national pride and honor. Edison and Ike are fine additions and there’s others I’m sure. Personally I love the inclusion of Scalia.

You might feel warmed for a moment at the next book burning but suppressing the lessons the study of history provides chills the mind.

I don't look upon statues or memorials of past events concerning that era in reverence or uncritical admiration, but it reminds me of the flaws in all men, myself included. It a cautionary tale and reminder, that without constant vigilance man can and will succumb to the lesser Angels of his nature.

We need to be reminded, often. Least we forget.

We also need to be reminded of our progress. We've come far and measured against other civilizations, past and current, we have not failed to improve. Others have, failed. By not hiding our failures, we can see how far we've come, and judge how far still we need to go.

Looks like you're going to need a bigger park to include them all. No reason to lose any one.

Eh, give you more to tear down at your next ☮️ March. You need the exercise anyway.

It wasn’t an opinion. I said “it was literally an us vs them speech” and it was.
He repeats used the words we and us to refer to some Americans, and they to refer to other Americans. He called other Americans fascists and totalitarianists (although he mangled the word).

He didn’t try to bring the country together. He highlighted division grouped all political opponents into an extreme group and demonised those who don’t share his views.

It was a divisive speech that was literally “us vs them”.

    Sad.

Real Americans - true patriots - know that Trump is a danger to the national security and vales of America.
Those people who think they are patriots cheer him on while he damages the country.

Glad to have cleared that up for you.

It was a darn good speech, it's this sort of thing he is really good at. Nixon swept to victory on the law and order ticket, Trump might do the same.

He is responsible for over 130,000 DEAD Americans of which a majority would be alive today if Trump were not a pathological liar and self-serving sociopath and thief. And you pull this law and order mumbo jumbo out of some of dark dank place. Unbelievable!

The law & order mumbo jumbo is on the news every evening right after the pandemic stuff. Maybe ya missed it.

What convinces you that another potus would have locked this down to 0 deaths?

how would that have been accomplished I'd love some specifics.
