You are the one who made a claim first, forcing everyone to wear dog muzzle.
As we know the number of reported case has increased tremendously once people started wearing masks.

Look at Europe or most of Asia.

If everybody is doing what they are supposed to do, you can drive the incidence of infection well below R(0).

That's what the chart is saying. We f***ed up, they didn't.[/QUOTE]
There is no presidential campaign in Europe and Asia, that is a main reason.

I think selling masks and distancing would have gone much better if we had not had the lockdown that is still killing businesses as fast as the disease is killing people, maybe faster.

Americans are simply not putting up with the authoritarianism. We still value freedom. If they had concentrated on personal responsibility instead of shutdowns and lockups we would have licked this already. The election is a poor excuse. Government failed us.

Yes we will but a precedent has been set. The government has succeeded in imposing it's power over us in ways never done before. They gotten away with curtailing our rights and freedoms. It has also selectively chosen what to enforce and who to punish. This toothpaste is never going back in the tube.

If that is true then the problem is the voting public, not the elected officials. The elected officials are doing what is in their best interests. The voting public is ignorant enough not to know what is its best interests.

I would suggest you go to the library but it's probably closed.

I don't think the powers they gave themselves will have a lasting effect but I worry some about the powers they let slide like law and order.

Right now I am reading the Pulitzer winning history of America in the early 1800s, What Hath God Wrought. I bought it. One of my favorite works is Braudel's ground breaking Civilisation and Capitalism, 15th to 18th Century. Bought that, too. Back before the internet, I bought the Dictionary of Historical Terms.

I suggest to everyone that they read Colin Woodard's American Nations. I wish it had been around when I was a kid. It's a must read.

I've taken enough history classes that if I was willing to take 3 or 4 classes (depends on how credits get transferred) I could get a history degree.

I see your point. I guess I paused because killing people was the catalyst.

Still it is impossible to explain why number of cases has skyrocketed recently.
I suspect number are misreported to blame Trump.

That is something that is very questionable. To me Americans love to follow orders imposed by the government.
They almost never speak up, they never go to the street to demand changes.

That helps to acquire herd immunity.
The death rate is not that different from other countries, but number of cases does.
That means will be over with covid-19 much faster.

Come on, mortality in US is behind Europe (on average).
    https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality
That is what we are going to see in near future, more cases and less mortality.
That is how virus work, when it encounters strong immune system (young people) it mutates and weakens.

It's not hard to explain at all. We went back to doing things the same as we did before with a lot of virus still in the system.
Quite the opposite. I don't know what else we expected to happen.
It's not as bad as it sounds. we are doing a lot more testing and part of that is the increase in cases, but the significant thing is that percent positives have almost doubled from where we had them right after the shut down.

The problem with that logic is that the EU currently has a much lower case count therefore a much lower death rate. We are closing the gap because our shutdown failed while theirs is working.
