yes people can change. both men left the dnc years after the VRA and CRA after a change of heart...Helms wasn’t even in washington when those debates took place.

meanwhile dems embraced Byrd, and fought desegregation...like Biden (and now you nominated him for president)

In the case of both Michelle and Barrack, it just made them more marketable in the party....

nah he wasn’t. Your nominee for President? i guess he has time to change. but his record is clear, fought desegregation of schools, wrote the racist clinton biden crime bill...tells people they aren’t really black if they think for themselves...

Not based on your last post. You demanded that republicans vote in more minorities. Like quotas... So many of these.. so many of those... but especially those, in your case. Republicans have actually voted for, and continued to vote for minority candidates. And every time they do, your team call those candidates "uncle toms"... It's pretty demeaning of those candidates, don't you agree?

    Now this was my statement:

Now how in the hell did you get a demand or quota out of that. Please explain that for me.

Jessie Helms was a racist until the day he died, that isn't even debatable.

You started with the admonition that conservatives won't vote for minorities, you inferred that there aren't enough to satisfy you, ergo you feel that conservatives aren't respecting your desire to see what you feel is an adequate representation. If that isn't quota based foundation, I don't know what else is. Oh, and you did sort of forget to mention that when conservative minorities are elected, folks like you refer to them as uncle toms. Why is that?

You're not responding to what I said, that is a strawman.

As I said, this was a long term strategy, it actually started in 1964. But that gets us into more detail than we need.

They wanted Southerners out of the Dem party, and that happened. I have no doubt there is research out there looking at how much that helped Nixon to win, but it's not important.

The racist vote may have gone to Wallace, but so what. What politicians knew back then was that things like the Civil Rights Act was going to cost the Dems the South.

    So it worked.

That it took a generation to finish is not surprising. A shift that big takes time, even now. Back then, "all politics is local".

    Different world, less ideological.

Have republicans had a BLACK presidential candidate?

I keep hearing republicans claim they would vote for this black person or they would vote for that black person, seems to never happen when you get in the voting booth. That is all I am saying.

Oh I see. We're all racist. What narrow minded thinking. Just because you have a black candidate doesn't mean they should automatically be supported. One minute you guys brag that most black are democrats and that no real black person would be a republican and then you criticize republicans for not voting for these black republican candidates you guys claim never exist. Get your story together, junior.
