~ From February 19 - Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases : Masks. "The only people who need masks are those who are already infected to keep from exposing others. The masks sold at drugstores aren't even good enough to truly protect anyone, " Fauci said.

Really!??? Really we have Americans who are so lazy they can't put a mask on?!!

Can't do such a simple thing for their fellow Americans? How they must hate America! How little they value all those "precious lives" !!!

...and it's mostly those on the right.....the "all lives are precious " people.... until they are INCONVENIENCED by the Horrible Burden of hitching a mask to their face.....hey , righties, there ARE instructions so don't worry LOL...

This example is, to me, the perfect display of the Republican idea of what to do when 125,000 Americans are dead, and there every indication there is going to be many more in a few matter of weeks.

Trump playing around watching the body count grow exponentially but regardless he has been sticking that exact mask since January making jokes.

His main concern has that his own toys are being damaged, but his subjects will give him more all the time!

~ Most others are not interested in the drama and theatrics of politics that the "progressive" type seem obsessed with.
Politics is depressing enough. Keeping a sense of humor takes a little effort.
If someone must do something to feel worthy then wear a mask 24/7 . The life you save may be your own.

Masks are medieval technology but any barrier whatever between me and them is a good thing. Mama said use what you got even if it ain't a much.

No, we have Americans who are so credulous and fearful that they believe walking around with their airways obstructed will be good for them. Their credulity and fear have been stoked big time by 5 months of very serious propaganda by most excellent propagandists.

Thank you for proving me correct. Denying there's a pandemic confirms it.
Maybe if the dead were cremated on your front lawn you might just stop listening to Trump.

Do you know the meaning of the term?

Blocked airways is another way to describe it. A mask blocks the airway, by definition. Go buy a pulse oximeter, put on your mask, and then see what happens to your blood oxygen level before and after the mask blocks your airway.

    Try this.
Stand sideways in silhouette with the sun behind you and have someone look at what comes out of your face. You’ll be shocked at the amount of droplets just from normal conversation.
Do it again with a mask on and you’ll see a dramatic difference

I am assuming I may have it and not know it, and testing every freaking week for every single person would be stupid beyond belief, so I wear something, a mask or a motorcycle helmet.

Sorry, everyone can't stay home because we would all starve to death, and someone has to clean up the mess made of windows...by the known terrorist organizations known as _______.

You clearly don't understand (or pretend not to) what testing is about

Yeah, some lady told me yesterday she had to wait three hours to get tested after driving to another city sixty miles away. If not sick she probably could have been exposed more in the process of going out, especially to a place where sick people touch stuff... Stay at home, it's safer than testing. Wear a mask, it's safer than testing.

Reducing airflow is hardly blockage. There is no need to panic...

Btw, there is considerable variation in how much masks restrict airflow. The cheap ones that are the most common do not restrict airflow much.

It's very simple ... as already written several times:

If someone infects you with Corona today, you will be someone who can infect others at the latest in the morning. But do you know that you got infected without a regular test? The answer is NO!
It can take 10 to 14 days for you to feel "normal" until you have symptoms of the disease ... before you feel sick! And for some who have been infected, the disease does not break out or only extremely weak and short.

And for contagion with corona and masks themselves:
The virus is mainly distributed through the aerosols of human breathing, especially through coughing and sneezing. These aerosols can then be inhaled by another person and that person is infected.
Due to the aerosols, the virus can also be found on all possible surfaces and survives there for a short period of time. If you touch such an infected surface, the virus is on hand and it also survives longer on the skin ... and how many times a day do you touch your face with your own hand? Just ... and you're already infected.
A third possibility of infection is of course the handling or contact with human fluids and excretions such as blood, mucus, feces and urine.

You yourself protect your respiratory tract only with a medical mask that is licensed accordingly ... but as you already write, it is about protecting others as a potentially infected person. Without any mask, your aerosol spreads around 3 meters (about 10 feet). With a normal, not special mask, it is only 1 meter (a little more than 3 feet) and if the other one also wears a normal mask, infection through inhalation of the aerosols is clearly unlikely ... and if you then still on Wash your hands a lot, etc., then this route will become even less likely.

That depends upon the individual. Do you recognize individual differences?

You think individual responses to masks in terms of oxygynation are going to be different? That there is something about certain people that means masks will have a greater impact upon their ability to take in oxygen?

LOL, you sound like Chauvin talking. "Hey Chief, I didn't kill the guy, I just reduced his airflow!"

Yes the cheap ones that do not restrict airflow much were not designed to trap airborne virus. Maybe some blockage is better than none, but there is no science behind the claim that they protect you from Covid.
