We went to La. once and bought a bag of crawdads and had a boiling. We had some leftover that we didn't boil and threw them in the pond. One day a neigbors little girl brought one of them back over to us it was huge. I think it must have been migrating. Eventually, they disappeared.
Your recipe sounds interesting. I'll have to try it.

Just a few weeks ago, I was minding my own business. A hummingbird buzzed halfway across my field of view. Then, it stopped, two feet from my face, with it's needle-beak aimed right between my eyes.

    Yep. Scary.

When I was a kid I read a thing about hummingbirds They have very fast heartbeats and use tremendous amounts of energy for their size. I think the article a human with a hummingbirds metabolism would require 300 pound of sugar a day. With an egg the size of a dime....

Good morning, firecrackers! Fess up... who blew off fingers last night? Sounded like a war zone here and fireworks in the city are against the law!

The you got yer Shrews { small version of a mole }.
They cannot go for long w/o food.I think they have to make sure
and eat something every 5 or 6 hrs.Doesn't leave much time left for
a snooze.Given they have to find or catch food also. That's part of the
    5 or 6 hrs.

Something strange happened early last night. It happened once
    before on a 4th of July.The wind Stopped.No wind at all.That's a really
bad omen before fireworks. That means that all those fireworks { smell
and stuff in the air } have no place to go.So that meant that the air quality
plus the heatwave make it dangerous. Also the inside of yer home or garage.
So I beat the Omen.Turned down my thermostat to make sure the inside of my
house was plenty cool.Closed the garage. Was Invited to watch the Fireworks and
decided against.Again... I have a wind device in my front yard next to the garage.
It was still as an Indian Totem pole.Went to bed early.Got up at 2:30 to check
outside. The air was foggy and I could smell the Fireworks.I wonder how many
    folk got sick last night.

What could be better than a band of Japanese women, dressed in French maid costumes, just rocking the heck out of it?

Took the day off tomorrow to get over my long weekend. Got gifted w an air-fryer this weekend. Haven't used it yet. Anybody got experience or do I have to read the manual?

    Interesting pic.

Leaf structure and flower head almost (can't see detail) look like cleome. They freely seed so it could be an escapee...

Cleome is a much more delicate flower and this plant had a thicker "skin". It looked more like a wild phlox. But you are probably right. It was probably a seed floating down the stream.

Could be. Have to keep any eye on the spot. It is an area that floods in the winter and spring and dries up some in summer.

Interesting, don't think I've seen that before.
Planning on feeding the local birds? Best hope your vehicle doesn't become a unloading zone, lol....
