That is a very complicated concept here. Maybe if you rephrase it to reduce the multi-syllabic words. There are still four with two syllables

First American police force was in Boston,Mass. in 1838. Today a rookie New York City policeman makes about $50K while a 20 year veteran makes about $95K Chicago and Los Angeles police make more than NYC cops.

I want to know hat the Minneapolis city mothas and fathas mean by "dismantling the police". If they mean "doing away with the police" then they may be using the word wrong. Dismantle means to take something to pieces and put it in a pile. Do the city mothas and fathas really mean doing away with the entire police force.

    I think not!

Dismantling something means to take Fosbury to it's pieces. Now ask the city leaders what are they going to do with the pieces.

It would be the epitome of foolishness and stupidity for them to actually do what you say- "donawaybwith the police".

Defund literally means to stop funding. It does NOT mean a reduction in funding. There is not any ambiguity in its meaning.

When the BLM organizers demanded that the Minneapolis mayor answer whether or not he supports defunding the police, and he responded by saying that he does not support abolishing the police department, he was immediately frog marched out of the rally.

You are trying to intellectualize a concept that contains zero intellectualism. The people that started the nonsensical defund the police movement were not sophisticated in any manner, shape, or form. Their demands are nonsensical.

You are coming in after the fact and trying to pretend like they were espousing a legitimate notion, when in reality their demands were shockingly ignorant gibberish. What you now propose is NOT even remotely what they meant.

We do have gov't programs that help provide, at least for food.

The poor can use money they don't have to spend on food to buy clothes.

You agree that services the poor need is better provided by a gov't?
There's a reason why roads, schools, public services are gov't provided. There's not much profit in areas where money is tight. But it benefits the nation, states, communities to have roads, electricity, fire and police protection.

Those services tend to lift all up, instead of just those that can afford them.

How about ball bearings, rototillers, and chain saws? Is the government better at producing those?

No, I'm not getting what you think ought to provided by the state and what shouldn't. Should the state provide boots?

Indeed. So utility services and health care. What about cell phones? Or tractors?

    Are those services?
Landlines used to be provided in part. But those are going the way of dinosaurs.

I do think having access to calling a public service such as police or fire depts is a needed service. Whether that be cell phones or some other communicating device doesn't really matter.

Ah services. Right. How about barbers? Should the government provide barber services?

If one wants a haircut badly, they can join the military. That gov't agency provides free haircuts.

Yet that is exactly what they have voted to do in Minneapolis, dismantle the police force. Now the city has a charter so they do not have the power to totally eliminate the police department even though there have been calls from crazies to do that very thing.
The problem in Minneapolis and other cities like Portland and Seattle where the loonies have taken over the city government is the fact they have no plan. It is all condescending words shoved through a bullhorn toward a bunch of shouting children who most of which have no clue why they are there in the first place.

I am sure the cops do not want to go out on lost dog calls but when masses of people talk about defunding and dismantling the department you work in, it is hard to go in every day with a positive attitude.

I expect this defund thing to be a popular battle cry here, especially from those that live near or in cities where violence runs rampant constantly, so let's go on with this great experiment.

Cops stop arresting black people and look the other way as you go about your daily duties. About one year of that and all but the wackiest of cities will come to their senses.

While we are playing the semantics game,
You have the correct definition of the word Dismantle. Defund means to take away funding. If you are trying to make your point the correct word you want to use is, partially defund.

Right now all the lar left is doing is giving Trump campaign slogans.
    Stupid is as stupid does.

So...barber services should be provided by the government and not the private sector?
