    Yeah ! Exactly my thought.
I had the same thought when at Yahoo's Message Boards.
    Smartie will verify.

The last hitchhiker, I picked up, told me that he was escaping from the mental hospital.

The question will always be, was he telling the truth?

    Sanity is subjective.

Haven't seen a Hitchhiker in years. And I watch out for them.
As a Motorcyclist.Seen plenty of Homeless at the side of roads
near Intersections ... acting helpless and in dire straights.
Ever once in a while I ask ... what ever became of Hitchhikers.
I guess state laws are pretty stiff as far as.
As Far as a Hitchhiker can stick their thumb out.

    Confessions of a former hitchhiker . . .

It was a long time ago, but I used to hitchhike to and from college to save a few bucks on bus fare. Most of the people I hitched rides with were fairly normal. Some were decidedly a little on the strange side. A few were creepy enough that I turned down their offer of a ride.

Eventually I decided to ride the bus.

I don't Get.Is it some kind of fuddy-duddy piece of wisdom.
It's no different than sitting in a bar during Happy Hour and thinking
I knew I was drinking before I read the Happy Hour placard.
Or I need reminding that this is Smartie's Grill.
    So I best Lam-on oughta Y'hare.

Did you ever see the movie "Switchback"? You might have turned down a creepy mass murderer.

Haven’t seen it, but looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes. Think I’ll pass as I have enough trouble sleeping as it is. It’s interesting that so many hitchhiker movies have been made. There are enough of them to qualify as sub-genre within the horror movie classification. There something inherently creepy about accepting a ride/giving a ride to a total stranger I guess.

    Is what ... again.?
So as Not to be a Piker.
Better to be a vagrant than a saintly hitchhiker ... huh.

    I can't recall.But a similar movie that came out last year { 2019 }
which I rate about an 8 out of 10 is :
    - The Purple Rose - starring John Travolta and Morgan Freeman.
A good mystery thriller.Supposedly made to be a nouveau version
of the classic Film Noir genre.
Brendan Frasier { once a rising star } has a comeback role.
    He lost his looks.

    Yes ... - The Mummy - { 1999 } and - The Mummy Returns - { 2001 }
were blockbusters.Plus a host of overall popular movies.
He was a leading man in most Features.
He had a falling out of grace from Hollywood when a former Hollywood
Foreign Press President was accused by Frasier of groping him.
Kind of what happened to other actors during the Me Too Movement\
years later.Because you Don't Rat Up.Especially in Hollywood.
That was how bearded slob groper Harvey Weinstein survived
    all those years.

    Admitting horrible truths here,

I've been baiting the back deck of my work flop house with dry cat food. There has been a neighborhood stray wandering around since we bought the place in 2017.

Tuxy (Tuxedo B&W white, assumed male) has visited a number of times, and likes to sleep under the 2x4 DIY deck furniture left by the previous owner. But about two months ago, a muted calico female came to visit, I think she is feral, but she was also quite pregnant. I made a point of putting out scraps of chicken, cut up cold cuts, and other relatively healthy stuff. She disappeared for a number of weeks.

About two weeks ago, she was on the deck first thing in the morning, eating, when I spotted a fluff ball of gray fur with her. As soon as I saw them, she saw me and they bolted under the deck and disappeared. Last evening, I had put out a almost expired pile of cold cuts I knew I wouldn't get to, and glanced out the window, and there was an orange fluff ball washing up after chowing down. Saw me and bolted, after I got this shot... Kitten.jpg

After losing Einstein in February 2019, we still have Hoover. The discussion of adoption has come up, but we are concerned that Hoover will revert to his nasty bully self, and pound the dickens out of another cat or kitten. He has mellowed a bit, but still not what I would call a loving cat. But he's at the other house, and it's so very quiet here at the flop house...

Thanks, Einstein was one of the most loving cats I've ever had.

Hoover is at least 8 years old, he just showed up at our house one day as a yearling or so.

We had a neighbor who fed the cats in the neighborhood. She moved and left the cats. We trapped them and took them to a vet who worked with strays and did low cost spay and neutering. We have two of them still. We brought one that was blind in the house and one that was born without back paws, in the house.
