    Republicans of the time were responsible for giving black folks rule over their own lives and destiny. Though, I doubt many thought that black folks would be able to make much of their newfound freedom. None would have believed that a black president would be forthcoming in 140 years.

    Thanks for the links to the 1868 platforms. I found them interesting and informative.

    Especially interesting was the overall tone of inclusiveness in the republican platform, contrasted with the multiple references to the perils of "negro supremacy" in the democrat document.

    Are you aware that the southern traitors who started a war so they could continue to own Black people were DEMOCRATS?
    Are you aware that the southern DEMOCRATS started the KKK so that they could lynch Blacks? Look up Nathan Bedford Forrest...
    Are you aware that DEMOCRATS did not vote for any civil rights legislation for 100 years after the Civil War?
    Are you aware that DEMOCRATS instituted the Black Codes and Jim Crow laws?
    Are you aware that the DEMOCRAT party was called “the white man’s party”
    Are you aware that the last Congressional Klan member died in 2010? It was Robert Byrd, a Democrat.
    Are you aware that the Clintons and Biden gave glowing eulogies of the “great man” Robert Byrd, praising his life?
    It would behoove you to learn about the Democrat party’s racist history before you mouth off because you seem woefully ill- informed and it’s embarrassing. This is the tip of the iceberg...

    I’m aware the Democrat Party didn’t found the KKK. Which is what I asked about because that is what was being claimed.
    I am well aware all of these Dems you referred to in your rant were southern conservatives. You’re the one who is ill informed on who made up the Democrat party in the past. Don’t be afraid to read a history book once in a while.

    And gun laws are just a form of oppression! The 2nd amendment says something something something about not restricting rights, so that means anyone who is told no is denied access to their god given rights! That includes the hard working members in gangs who are working their jobs making sure other restricting commodities are making it to their customers.

    The south put the up.
    The south still wants them.
    The south started the war against the USA so they could continue to own black people.

    Whether the south Dems 150 yrs ago doesn't matter. The mindset if of those people in the south. The south is wanting to still idolize the traitors of the USA.

    I don't care what party they were 150 yrs ago.
    The SOUTH rose up to fight the USA so they could continue to own black people.

    The SOUTH today, wants to keep statues so they can idolize those traitors. If they were dems, the South today is mostly republican. The republicans want to idolize the traitor down south.

    The republican president is putting out words to stop those people who want to end the racist statues being idolized.

    150 yrs ago the south was dems. Today they are republicans and the pres who wants to continue to idolize the traitors is also a republican.
