    Fallacy: red herring.
But, thanks for agreeing with me.

    Just sticking with the obvious.

    Trump is a disaster.

Just FYI, not a red herring..

Yes - like when you obviously change the subject to avoid the subject - that is, offer a red herring - it obviously means you know you cannot meaningfully address the subject.

Thus, as you obviously know you have no meaningful response for my characterization of Obama as a self-absorbed, self-important, socialist racist, demagogue, you must, in fact obviously agree with said characterization.

If you -did have a meaningful response to that characterization, you obviously would not have been forced to change the subject to Trump.

So again : thank you for, obviously, agreeing with me.

To be honest, your fantasy world is old and silly propaganda.

My implied point was that you were projecting.

Yeah, but It seems to me that's always been the way things work. And not just in this country. Money = power. I don't see it as an actual ruling class in any way other than economics.

Ok, it needs to be explained. I use laissez faire as an example because that's the phrase used by the economic interests pushing for unregulated capitalism. At the same time, these interests use the government (and military) to protect themselves and their businesses.

Back in the 80s the tax system was changed. Cheating by the rich was encourage by lax enforcement. At the same the amount of tax levied was reduced.

To give you an idea of how bad it got, if you did itemised deductions, you could deduct car payments.

That's the first book. The second book deals with the consequences of corruption. We are slowly morphing into what increasingly looks like a feudal structure.

"Stiglitz argues that inequality is self-perpetuating, that it is produced by the vast amount of political power the wealthy hold to control legislative and regulatory activity. He does not believe that globalization and technological changes are at the heart of differences in wealth in the U.S. "While there may be underlying economic forces at play,” he writes, “politics have shaped the market, and shaped it in ways that advantage the top at the expense of the rest.”[1] Stiglitz blames rent-seeking for causing the inequality, with the wealthy using their power to shape monopolies, incur favorable treatment by the government, and pay low taxes. The end result is not only morally wrong but also hurts the productivity in the economy.[1]"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Price_of_Inequality

There are a number of other economists, like Pikkety, covering the same territory.

Your next question will likely be how I got from rent seeking to feudalism.

As the power imbalance grows, representative governance withers and dies. What is left is 2 worlds, one of which lives or dies at the sufferance of the other.

That is truth, and it is the primary reason to make/keep govt as small as possible, so there is little delegated authorization on use of force for the ruling class to subvert against us.

I don't think about him much anymore. I liked his promises to cut back on Executive overreach and did'nt like his backtracking on that issue. Right now I'm focused on the current administration, which has gone further with that whole Executive overreach thing.

When you need an entire party just to match the lies of one person . . . think about that a little more. Just . . . think.

Personally, every time I point out Trump's lies, his follower just rewrite what he actually said and pretend he said something else.

Why would I? He's pretty much irrelevant now and people currently in power are at least as bad.

hyperbole and bragging.. only an idiot would think of them as a true attempt at deceiving listeners on life and death issues, unlike the destructive lies of the Left intended to decieve and with deadly and destructive results.. big difference which the Left refuses to acknowledge and, in fact, amplify.
