Show me your numbers/simple formula that equates to the lowest death rate.

It killed my healthy baby brother. So this virus is very dangerous. He was 52.

Our enemy are people who think there is nothing one can do to minimize catching it and people who believe it is no different than seasonal flu. Or have the attitude that if god is ready for you to die he will take you and nothing you can do to save your life by acting intelligently.

 

Since trump is reported to not read someone told him it would follow the flu virus and cold virus and go away with summer temps ..

And it was reasonable to think that until much later it proved to not follow the rules.

Why are people still dying from it? Well it proved not be like the flu virus and cold virus. Highly non typical.

Because of this an engineered virus would need this non seasonal trait as well as asymptomatic but contagious.

Not that it was engineered other than what a lab would do to study it..
to get bat to human transfer and then human to human.

 

Which would need a sorce, as you say.

 

I almost died of that damn virus, that one was no joke either! Scary!

As far as Covid-19, I don't know about it being here to stay, but it is something that doesn't appear to be going away soon so we do have to learn to live with, sad reality but true.

Appreciate it. The youngest of 5 died first. He was worried that one of our brothers who was about to have a quadruple bypass and valve repair might die. And before that brother got out of the hospital , little brother died. He got sick from covid and died so fast and suddenly..

Told his wife he could not breath and fell backward in their bed and never took another breath. That is when I knew how bad this virus was. To go from feeling fatigued to dying suddenly.

A helluva novel virus to die so quickly. No lying in ICU just death.

Not as easy as one might think. Been there, done that.

When SARS hit China in 2002/4* the WHO put a group together to investigate and try to find the source such as to treat it. (Meaning wipe it out.)

The WHO investigation team worked on that project until 2012 and was unable to "crack the nut" - besides the reproduction of SARS diminished all by itself in China first killing 774 Chinese.

These deadly epidemics are beyond our capacity to cope with them FOR THE MOMENT. That does not mean we cannot obtain a sufficiently potent antidote!

It means, presently, that we need more time to find said antidote that functions adequately in a laboratory and then in real-time with Covid-afflicted human beings.

And that result is not at all like pulling a rabbit out of a hat. So, yes, Covid is presently a threat that could ultimately annihilate the human race.

Think about that consequence, people! And start wearing a mask ALWAYS in public places and when meeting people who are not your immediate-family (in any circumstance) ... !

Humanity has had a previous experience, yet again in China, in 2002/4 called SARS. And, no we never found an antidote despite the fact that the WHO spent 8 years looking for it.

Covid-19 is NOT like the common cold. It does not "go away" in time. In fact, it kills you if it can.

And all this brouhaha out of the US about "having found a solution" is worth Absolutely Nothing until that "solution" has been adequately tested in the field. And not in a lab somewhere!

I don't think the "profit-making" is going to be all that great. Whatever is the solution, it will NEVER EVER get a "patent protection". It is a medical treatment of considerable urgency and therefore escapes "normal patent protection" laws. No court of law will touch it ...

 

In Europe. Don't know about the US, where you have a knack for making billions out of the latest BigThing that becomes popular.

In Europe, whatever the make-up of the medicine, if bonafide functional, it will be produced without patent-protection. Given the urgency it will be disseminated quickly throughout the European Union. Free, gratis and for nothing* ... !

*That's the way National Healthcare works here in Europe. Try it, you'll like it! That's why people actually ALL get to see a doctor and there is no such thing as an "ER" waiting-room when necessary.

I'm not taking any excuses from science. They need to get off their slovenly walk with dead lice falling off them and get it done for the people.

 

Republicans contribution to "living with it" will be to create an environment that promotes death instead of safety.

 

Life is risk. Now it's very, very slightly riskier than it was before. Gonna have to learn to live with it.

 

I alreayd know several young people ( under 40 ) who have died from Covid. No underlying health problems.

Its more than just a "slight risk"


But most republicans lack empathy, so this response makes sense.

 

I'm so sorry about your brother. It's just so easy to look at 'the numbers' as just that - 'numbers'. But each of those numbers represents a family grieving. Friends grieving. I've started watching and reading the stories, lately, with 'people' instead of 'numbers'. And it's heartbreaking. My condolences.

However, according to Trump and his below average intelligent loyalists, per confirmed Covid19 positive, the U.S. currently has the lowest death rate.

 

I think it’s just a case of Trump saying something false - whether he knows it’s false or just doesn’t care is unclear - and his followers repeating it as if it’s true.

If we have learned anything from this presidency, it’s that a good way to determine the truth is to find out what trump said. That is unlikely to be the truth.
