The government's 'Paycheck Protection Program' (PPP) should be called the Trickle Down and Mass Unemployment Initiative. Taxpayer money went to employers with no strings. The owners are going to do what is best for themselves. The employees, who now pay a higher tax rate than the top 1%, have no say. Over 40 million workers have already been laid off and employers are planning more job cuts beginning in August. At least 4 million people who haven't been laid off have had their pay cut since April.
Ex is in airline industry. They were told they would get letters this month on who will be losing their jobs. The process could take months to complete. It's said that this is worse than what happened in air travel after 9/11. It's brutal.
I have three family members on the program, worked like a charm. It has really made a difference to them as well.
Same here, we did have a large number that took early retirement and a bunch that volunteered to cut hours but the prognosis for Oct 1 isnt attractive for airline employees.
