Exactly. Trump wants all the credit if schools can safely reopen and take that credit to bolster his re-election. He does not take the risk that something could go wrong. He as alllways is positioning himself for a win win.

I don't think I or anyone else knows what you mean by "who knows at this point what the truth is about covid?"/ It IS a highly transmittable virus. It is deadly, killing more than 5% of the people infected.
Left or right has nothing to do with this disease. Politics has nothing to do with this disease other than crippling this nations ability to combat and contain this disease. The protocols for doing so are long established and proven to work. Our country's failure to implement these protocols can be laid directly and unequivocally at the feet of the republican president.
Thank you for wearing a mask. It has a lot more to do with you not spreading the disease to others, so I guess you can truthfully say its for others comfort level.
The push to open schools this fall as our republican president wants to happen is absolutely insane unless very rigid safeguards are put in place and religiously adhered to. The consequences of people dying is worse than the kids need to go back to school absent the safeguards previously mentioned.
Contrary to your assertion that the death rate has plummeted, the rate is slightly under 5% and has been between 5% and 6% for months. Yes, there has been a slight decrease in the number death rate due to widespread testing which has allowed medicine to intervene at earlier stages of the disease. None of the reputable news sources say the death rate has plummeted. The number of infections are sky rocketing upward so expect the number of deaths to sky rocket with them.
None of this is rocket science. Hell, my pre-school granddaughter gets it.

Wow .................... you wouldn't say that if you have ever lost a child .............

Get the Virus under control by Federal contract tracing as other countries have done successfully then open up America

Which we could have done in Feb/March and wouldn't have had to shut down the economy or Lost 130,000 Americans

This is the worst Federal response in the History of America

Emotional hysterics and .. oh yeah. orange man bad..
What if I had lost a child... would you feel like an ass? No, probably not or you would never had said something like that in the first place.

We got one that doesn't post much and another that just joined... no.. I'm not suspicious of your motives for posting what you do.. /sarc/
and niether one worth replying to, as they could, with a little common sense, understand exactly my point.. and BS on "if he'd done this".... we aren't a totalitarian country, so there is just so much the government can do.. thankfully.

Idiots on the Left have killed 100's of millions and continue starving and killing people to this day.. so save the bogus "worse response in history" BS.

It must be a year that ends in a number...

    Some truths:

This virus does not effect school age children.

Children need structured education and challenged minds.

Children are falling behind, a year lost if schools remain closed.

New habits are being formed that will last a lifetime.

    Child abuse rates are soaring.

Child deaths are way above normal, abuse and accident.

If we are serious about our obligation to our children, their education comes before all other concerns. Haven't we burdened the younger generations enough?

Open the schools, wide open. Kids are paying a price for something that is not their burden to bear. As adults, if there a price to pay we should willingly do so.

Open the schools, open them wide.

    Cheers

I am vehemently opposed to this being run by the Feds. The local communities and school officials should develop their own plans for moving forward without interference. It can only be SUCCESSFUL if it happens that way.

At some point, maybe not September, schools will have to open OR we are going to see a monumental change in how education is provided. And, given the concern about second waves, it's anybody's guess.

DID is the operative word. I said he abdicated responsibility to the governors - so he should let them govern.

It's been long obvious to the Supporters of President Donald J Trump anything he does is going to be excoriated to the absurd by the Elite and their mindless minions.

Implied by suggesting he use non-Constitutional powers to force the governors of the States to implement his advisors plans.. and it's a common accusation by your side.

And perhaps you can show me, in my posts, where I implied or suggested he used non constitutional powers to force the governors to implement his advisors' plans? Fight against 'my side' all you wish, but if you're responding to MY posts, then perhaps you should use MY content.

Ok .. I can see your problem.. and I don't have the time , nor the desire, (past what I've already tried), to correct it.

ok.. he doesn't abdicate power to enities that already have it .. unless he already acting as a dictator

Children do get infected, but the real concern is among the teachers and administrators, many of which are in their 40s and 50s. Plus, children can carry the disease and are excellent transmitters.

Points 2 through 8 I can agree to with reservation.

Points 9 and 10 are just silly without the necessary protocols in place, and for those I take the word of physicians and epidemiologists over politicians and random posters on these threads, however well meaning they may be.

No hysterics, simple observation and fact checking. Yes, orange man bad, very bad at his job and he should have been canned a long time ago.

What if I lost a child? That is a valid question. On a par with "do you want your daughter to marry one?".
One doesn't post much and one new? So what? Rather than be suspicious why don't you read and respond? I get your point, I just disagree. If he had done this...not BS, things would have unfolded very differently. Epidemiologists know how to do this. Trump fiddled while Rome burned and sits there saying "not my fault". Yes, we are not a totalitarian country, but in times of urgent need, like now, government can and has stepped up and done what needed doing, suspending temporarily laws and the constitution to serve the public good

Your final point is non responsive and completely off topic. Come to think of it, most of the post is just more of the same/

In normal times, schools would be opening in 2 months, we now have3 states where the ICU beds are all used. It would be pouring fuel on the fire.

The left politicizes everything? Give me a break. Like the right would never do that, right? Seems to me that the conflicts are between epidemiologists and physicians, politicians and silly posters. If you rely on the physicians and epidemiologists you should be in good shape. You would also not be exposed to covid, but you just keep on listening to Trump, and remove yourself from the population.

Public schools -- funded by taxes levied on all private property -- are going to need to make concrete decisions about what to do VERY SOON.

Part of the real difficulty in making intelligent decisions is that the "experts" keep on changing their damned minds every few weeks, and so what was SO BAD in April, isn't so BAD in July, and, vice-versa!

We appear, finally, to be discovering that this virus is definitely spread IN THE AIR, in AEROSOL form, and that would make it enduringly bad for anybody to clump together in enclosed areas -- like schools, for instance.

I dunno. So, the kids go to school, spread the virus, don't die because they're 'young'... but then they give the virus to their parents, their parents' families, friends, co-workers, customers, etc., etc. Any way you slice it, opening the schools back up in high concentrations of pupils is NOT SMART.

As much as teaching anybody anything of an academic nature on the internet is a JOKE, it may be all that's left to us now. But, public 'education' itself has been little more than a JOKE for the past thirty years, anyway, and so it may not make much of a difference to us in the short term.
