It is foolhardy of us as a collective group of online opiner's to think that the ideological tenets of our voices' are being weighed impartially (imho). As such, should we not delve into the root of the problem? Should we not seek impartiality in our shared 'umbrella' of 1st & 14th Amendment rights (obviously within the guidelines of this privately held 'PF' rubric)? What is going on here ~ in our nation & in the microcosm of our seemingly tritely manifest message board is perhaps a matter to be discussed. Is there overt bias, is there a weighted 'lilt' to discussions here?

I surely hope that there is not, but fear there is... lets open the table of discourse. Now more than ever, in the eve of a national election ~ this is germane! (imho, of course)

One problem is the Current Events section is just a mirror of the MSM. How could it be otherwise? The articles posted are extremely biased and many times fake. At one time folks had to at least pretend to be open minded but now they are openly biased. Real debate went out the window a long time ago.

There isn't much actual discussion going on. Seldom do people explain their reasoning behind their position, and seldom do they ask for the reasoning behind someone else's position. Most often folks link to, or ask for a link to, 'proof'. Its like our own opinions dont really matter, even to ourselves, unless that opinion is already 'accredited' somewhere.

And yes, I do it too...

The unsupported opinions of strangers are inherently unpersuasive.

I largely hold this sentiment, however, WE / U / I can perhaps introduce a smattering of 'current events' from other websites... (Websites not necesarily 'entrenched in the MSM bias) - Objectivity is the issue right...? so it is upon each of us to 'ferret' out the unbiased "truth" before we post... (or expound upon / qualify the assertions, therein, of what we post)

    - 'The Federalist'
    - 'The Hill'
    - 'Bongino Report'
    - 'The Gateway Pundit'

for starters... etc. etc. ~ a good place to start... (but none the less, they have their own 'slant'.. obviously).... :) S

Bias is inevitable. The best we can hope for is a fair fight. The rules here permit that.
But there are never any ironclad guarantees in life.

I agree and folks here could actually do just that but the problem is lack of interest in doing so. The left is not interested in honest debate because they have the communist/socialist mindset. They believe the government knows best and the people cannot govern themselves. Honest debate amongst the people is a waste of time in their view. They believe the people are not smart enough to have the correct opinion so the government should tell them what to think.

Kind of difficult to have an honest debate with such a dishonest held belief.

On the contrary, my "belief" is the actual truth.

Perhaps you could 'lead by example' & provide a framework of sentiment for 'Joe Blow' to respond to... (just musing here, lol...)

The biggest issue in today's environment is the inability of even agreeing what is a fact. Decades of right wing media pandering to gross exaggerations and outright lies to appeal of people's fears and prejudices has created a divergent reality that has become an anathema to "honest debate". Demagoguery is the dividing line, one side embraces it, the other abhors it. Demagoguery has become the wedge that has split the US wider than the Pacific Ocean.

"The articles posted are extremely biased and many times fake"

    Very TRUE.

Extremely Biased FAKE News "sources" such as Daily Caller, Gateway Pundit, Etc.. shouldn't even be allowed in the Current Events Section.

However, in order to allow "all points of view" to be represented at PF, it is necessary to allow Unfounded RW Conspiracies (masquerading as "News") to be posted.

    Aren't those far right blogs?
    How are those not biased?
I mean, you are looking for objectivity, yes? Bias and objectivity are mutually exclusive.

Chuckle, Guffaw, Laughter & 'twittering'... U are absolutely correct in your assertion... The pregnant question remains... ~ who / what is closer to the unbiased "TRUTH"... I wont waste my time trying to dissuade or persuade your, lol... Be honest with yourself in your own thorough examination of current events...

As well as left wing propaganda but how does that help with honest debate?

    I always am.

The actual truth always, I repeat always, is somewhere in the middle of what one reads, sees, or hears.

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you read/hear.

But are you not claiming to find truth and objective news?
How is starting from the opposite side of bias any better than what you claim to be bias.
Now if you take each of those biases, throw out the biased editorials, then somewhere in each sides story, you can find some semblance of reality.

LOL!!! The Federalist and The Gateway Pundit are well known right wing sources. "The Hill" is hit-and-miss, and I'm not familiar with "Bongino Report". But see? The first thing that comes up is slanted, biased disinformation.
