    Why would they NOT?

We know asymptomatic people can spread it

You indicated that they don't transmit it easily. I'm saying we don't know that, it's pure conjecture. There's no way to know if a kid who wasn't tested and had no symptoms transmitted it to someone else, so it's quite silly to say that we do know.

Big difference between a reduced transmit rate and what you said - and it is not pure conjecture.

You can't seem to stay on the same page here ... this is getting pointless. The question is about opening up schools - which includes both transmission rate -which "seems to be lower" due to a variety of factors - and the fact that kids are not at significant risk from this virus.

Could you be more ridiculous? You’re better than this. You are. Believe it.

Kids “may” not be in as much risk (although many have died from this horror) but teachers certainly are

Not unless the teachers are over 70 ... and have underlying conditions

Trump Threatens to Cut Funding if Schools Do Not Fully Reopen
Disregarding the advice of his own health experts, President Trump also attacked the C.D.C.’s reopening guidelines as onerous and expensive.

"The agency has recommended for weeks that schools that remain open modify layouts to maintain social distancing, install physical barriers where that is not possible, increase disinfection and cleaning of facilities, avoid serving communal meals in cafeterias, discourage sharing objects and ensure ventilation systems are up to date. If a school has a confirmed case, the guidance says, students and “most staff” members should be dismissed for two to five days while local health officials consider what to do next."

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/08/us/politics/trump-schools-reopening.html

If schools can't open while adhering to the CDC guidelines they shouldn't open. The remedy is not relaxing the guidelines.

Only in Trumpworld is putting kids, school employees, and parents at risk an acceptable demand. Everywhere else it's seen as the batshyte crazy, reckless, self-serving order it is.

Try looking at the numbers - 50 year olds with no underlying conditions are low risk.

"What's up with the push to re-open schools?"
That is half of it but the larger half is the fact if the kids are forced to stay home, one or both parents must also stay home which keeps the economy from growing. A robust economy is the enemy of democrats.

Are they being mandated by governors as you suggested or are they case by case business owners decision ;)

Keep in mind now, I know the answer to the question ;)

The economy didn't need to be shuttered. Trump inaction caused that and deaths of so many Americans.

You think businesses would close on their own? Haha that’s f’ing funny.

    Just one quick example...
“Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday took his most drastic action yet to respond to the post-reopening coronavirus surge in Texas, shutting bars back down and scaling back restaurant capacity to 50%.

He also shut down river-rafting trips, which have been blamed for a swift rise in cases in Hays County, and banned outdoor gatherings of over 100 people unless local officials approve.”

Btw...only things fully closed in MA are bars and amusement/water parks.

Nah- you are going on information that they had in February/March. Lots of new learning since then. The danger age is around 50+, now.

Just to be clear; my only point is that this shouldn't be a federal decision. Period.

Betsy Davos has neither the time nor ability to study on every local town in the country to determine what's best for them.

The must be in those states you posted, because the ones I posted are current and the only states mandating some types of business closures ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

BTW he isn't closing them either he is downsizing them

here are the numbers in my region - Feel free to pull up numbers from any region you like - it is not going to look much different.

Once you hit 70 there is a small risk - when you hit 80 the risk is larger - especially with underlying conditions with many old folks - and those in their 70s have.

Pretty darn low from 60-69 .. and extremely low for the rest.

So you agree closures are govt mandated. Cool...:D
And yes, for bars that are nightclubs that don’t sell food, those are closed down.

I don’t believe there are any states that are fully closed. All are going through varies phases of reopening.
