Wow... what marvelous stewards of the Earth humans are! I had to laugh when someone just said the only lifeforms left will be cockroaches and Trump.

Mankind should be embarrassed by these statistics. Actually, the only way to save the wildlife of the planet is the extinction of the worst animal...humans.

Saw the movie, staring Keanu Reeves, already - The Day the Earth Stood Still - 2008 -. The original (1951) with Michael Rennie was much better.

Last I checked extinction has been happening steadily since day 1.

Is there a chart or some other cute graph that can walk me through this?

    Not steadily. Never steadily.

And the pont is that if we as humans are causing more extinctions to happen, we can adjust our behaviour to reduce those extinctions.

But the pro-trump, anti-science crowd seems to shrug their shoulders and say “who cares? I’m alright.”

We need to take better care of this planet and all of its life forms. Species are becoming extinct at something like 100 times faster than what the natural rate would be. This is one of the areas that I think Trump, America, and the whole world needs to do better at.
Wilderness and wildlife habitats are disappearing at a stupid rate. I live for those times of hiking into the wilderness and seeing natural beauty that hasn’t been ****ed up by humans. It’s getting harder to do here and around the world. We can do better.

Of course, creatures have always gone extinct. But since the industrial revolution the rate of extinction has increased to 100 times the natural rate of extinction.

I don’t believe it is at all, no. We all share the blame for it.

WTF? Of course things have gone extinct before. What a ridiculous question to ask.

If you’re referring to me, I didn’t claim that extinctions were trump’s fault. I just observed - and you are helping to prove - that his supporters don’t care.

That reminds me to call the pest control guy, I saw another of those daddy long legs and I want to extinct his ass and any of his little friends.

I've been trying to extinct pests in my yard every 3 months for 30+ years.

So, i guess it IS a choice.

Humans are entirely responsible for the current extinction rate.
