Stone was convicted of lying to Congress and obstructing justice after a jury trial. That's conclusive proof.

The conflict of interest and corruption comes from the fact that, as president, Trump's interest is the impartial administration of justice. He has a personal interest in this case because Stone lied and obstructed justice to protect Trump.

I know that a lot of Trump supporters believe that Comey and Clapper and others belong behind bars for the investigation into Russian interference in the election. I don't see that, but I know that a lot of people do.
    So imagine this scenario:
Durham and then Barr recommend charges against some of the people involved in the investigation. Maybe even Obama. They get indicted before the election and maybe taken into custody and denied bail.
Biden wins and one of his first acts as president is to grant all of those people a pardon on the basis that it was just a Trump administration witch hunt against them. Will you be singing the same tune? That he has the power to do it therefore it cannot amount to corruption or conflict of interest?

Great hypothetical, except for the Obama part..that won't happen, but I suspect Comey might be the only big name who stands a chance of facing actual charges, and I find that extremely slim as well...

They have a no-name FBI lawyer who changed an EMAIL to get a non-important FISA warrant dead to rights... There's your October Surprise...

Conspiracy of what? The judge should have tossed the jury verdict long ago.

Of course the President should end this persecution of Flynn by corrupt prosecutors. Guess you missed the news this morning about the newly released FBI Kemp's again confirming they knew he was not a Russian agent and that he did not lie during the interview.

He is unil he gets the jury verdict overturned on appeal which he is likely to win due to the jury foreman.

The witness said he wasn't tampered with and the jury foreman lied during voir dire.

Funny, but I don't remember leftists being ANGRY at Russians when Hillary was waving around her reset button or Barack was offering to get on his knees to be more 'flexible' for Putin. They most certainly did not blame Barack for ANY of the Russian military aggressions that 'flexible' Barack allowed Putin to get away with. Gasp . . . i-i-it's almost as if their endless Trump/Russia conspiracy theories and corrupt to the core Hillary purchasing a Russian disinformation dossier is strictly political with them!

Actually the corrupt Dem Party liberal activist judge and Flynn are having one more go-round as of now with a circuit court or court of appeals, but things ARE currently looking good for the general.

It does appear that vast numbers of Dems do think that Dem Party mayors standing down police departments so that rioters could loot, burn, mug, and murder is good P.R. political value for the Dem Party. Yes, and many of them probably also do think that police officers are going to eagerly vote for a Dem Party that apparently hates them and defunds them.

It was totally hypothetical. I don’t see anyone who was involved in the Russia investigation facing charges.
I used the hypothetical to shoe how a perfectly legal act can also be a conflict of interest or even a corrupt act.

I'm glad that you agree that the jury was corrupted by a jury foreman who lied about her bias.

This court process should have been thrown out for several reasons...

Do tell. Did the jury foreman's alleged lies about personal bias mean that Stone didn't lie to Congress and investigators or attempt to intimidate a witness?

Stone had also wanted a commutation rather than a pardon, which would imply he was guilty, and he will now apparently continue to try to overturn his conviction. “[Trump] knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him. It would have eased my situation considerably. But I didn’t,” Stone told Howard Fineman on Friday.

Stone's own words provide the fact that Stone had dirt on Trump.

Once again, it seems Mitt Romney is alone among sitting Republican senators to have a backbone and speak up against corruption in plain sight:

'Historic corruption': Romney criticizes Trump for commuting Roger Stone's prison sentence
The Utah Senator was the first prominent voice in the Republican Party to publicly disavow the president's decision to erase Stone's prison sentence.

    July 11, 2020, 10:08 AM CDT
    By Lauren Egan

WASHINGTON — Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, on Saturday criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to commute the prison sentence of Roger Stone, calling it “unprecedented, historic corruption.”

“An American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very president,” Romney wrote on Twitter.

Romney, a leading critic of the president, was the first prominent Republican to condemn Trump for his decision to clear Stone's 40-month prison sentence

Other Republicans have been quick to rally around the president, taking to Twitter to voice their support for Stone's commutation.

Trump and his Congressional enablers threaten the rule of law, our long-standing institutions, and our way of life.

So let him make that case like any other criminal. Why should he get special treatment?

Come off it. You drinkers of the Trump Kool Aid will find any excuse, no matter how flimsy, to dismiss criminal activity by Trump and his accomplices.

    Amazing isn't it?

Lt. Col Vindman gets pressured into retiring for telling the truth.

Stone gets released after obstructing justice simply for being Trump's friend. I guess the rule of law simply does not matter anymore.

"I think the prosecution was righteous and I think the sentence that the judge ultimately gave was fair," Barr said.

If that’s true then let him go through the process every other criminal does. Why should he get special treatment?
