NYC Black Lives Matter marches can continue despite large-event ban, de Blasio says

"Blasio said on CNN. “We’ve had a lot of success making New York City healthier and we’ve got to stick to that plan. “The kinds of gatherings we’re used to — the parades, the fairs — we just can’t have that while we’re focusing on health right now.” Focusing on HEALTH? YEAH RIGHT!

So this would mean that no other mass gatherings for any other kind of protest would be illegal. @RodB, @spiritgide - you both seem like Constitution guys- this is viewpoint discrimination isn't it?

Yes, it is. Attacks on constitutional rights from the left- leaning politicians have become daily events. One of the medical experts had stated that staying inside was critical, but BLM protests were ok because that was more important. Stating All lives matter instead of just black lives matter is being treated as a hate statement- which is pretty much insane and racist. Supposedly the message of the "protest" is against injustice, and nothing has contained more injustice than the protest movement in living history. People are attacked for objecting to others being attacked for their position, even reprimanded, fired, harassed. There is the equivalent of a massive gas-light scheme going on here, and we have not only a substantial part of the public but many politicians and officials like teachers that have been totally taken in and are willing to subvert the constitution.

 

We all know BLM isn't about black lives. It is about political power. Shame on everybody who falls for it. I'm beginning to be embarrassed for American culture.

 

You are absolutely right.
That's probably going to get worse before it gets better. We have far too many people who have been allowed to grow up rather than being raised to be responsible adults, and we are seeing immature minds thinking they can govern and lead, when they can't come to grips with themselves yet.

 

I agree. That's an accurate description of Trump and McConnel, but also...and more importantly perhaps, it applies to their voters.

 

Well, in a way, he's got a point. Between them Cuomo and De Blassio managed to kill off countless old people and minorities due to their joint mishandling of Covid-19 and so technically the city IS healthier since vast numbers of 'at risk' are already dead.

 

Exactly the kind of mentality that is running the left-thinkers and haters these days- total denial, total inability to self-examine. Their diapers are full all the time because it's not their fault and Trump has failed to take care of it for them. It's pitiful, but true.

The African American vote is crucial for a Democratic presidential win in November.

There is a two pronged Democratic strategy in winning in November in the US:

Shut down the economy by shutting down business even if that rips apart jobs, economic growth and general investments because individuals don’t matter. Removing Trump is an end justifying any means.

And conversely allowing the African American community in the US to flaunt social distancing guidelines in the spirit of Only Black Lives Matter in preference to other groups even if that means a faster spread of this so called deadly virus.

The latter is doublethink but people are buying it!

I believe BLM is needed.
If Trump can be exempted, surely they can be too.

 

Can anyone think of any time anywhere in American history where the African American community has sought to protect any ethnic group other than themselves?

Whites and Jewish people (who were pretty put upon themselves) sought to protect African Americans.

And when asked about Native American abuses. African Americans trivialize it even though that was genuine ethnic cleansing.

African Americans appear to wish not only to be victims but they jealously guard their right to be the only victims.

That’s what pays the most!

The bottom line is that the extremist African American culture is delighted by the Floyd death and hope for more such events.

It is an opportunity to play on white guilt which is given too freely.

Reparations are better than taking advantage of the special privileges of being African American in the US in the form of affirmative action, grade inflation, minority set asides in contracts and the terror that employers feel in letting African Americans go regardless of job performance.


Reparations require no effort.

Just sit back and collect the money earned by people who worked hard for it.

Correction. A minority is buying it because the Left controls most of the media outlets. People capable of thinking for themselves, however, perfectly understand exactly what the political Left is doing . . . and why. There will be a very angry Caucasian response due to the political lid being placed on their free speech. It should never have come to this in the US or here in Europe if we had only allowed a safety valve and open dialogue.

I can only assume that by "lynching" you're referring to a Trump rally or some sort of right wing protest, given that lynchings don't happen.

Why is it obvious? I seem to know something about the First Amendment which you (an American) didn't know, but seem to now DO know given your lack of dispute!
