Supreme Court splits on Trump tax cases, potentially shielding returns until after election

Trump failed on a massive level and is an utter embarrassment. If you're happy with the United States being the worst nation in the world in handling this pandemic simply due to the dipshit we have as POTUS doing nothing but golf and downplay it by calling it a liberal hoax, then good for you. The majority of the voting public don't like the fact that our POTUS failed, and they will send a message come November.

The IRS has had Trump tax returns for years. If there was anything juicy, it would have already leaked. You know it, I know it, the American People know it.

In order emulate Trump, I would have to lie about everything, write petty, vindictive tweets whenever someone said or did something that I chose to take personally, make a complete mess of whatever job I have, then blame everyone else for my shortcoming. And so forth and so on. I would generally have to behave like a whiny little toddler having a tantrum when things didn't go my way.

To emulate Trump, I would have to surround myself with obsequious toadies and sycophants who would do my bidding while speaking my praises, all while being completely incompetent in whatever job I've rewarded them with. I would have to get myself a pet AG to use the Justice Department to punish my enemies by launching phony "investigations," and reward my buddies with reduced or commuted jail sentences.

In order to emulate Trump, I would have to become a narcissistic sociopath whose every word and deed served only my ego.

Are you claiming that there were no such things as subpoenas until 1992? Could you please clarify that and provide a link to your source?

As for Vance and this case, yes of course they are still investigating. That's why the subpoena was issued, so that a grand jury could rule on whether or not enough evidence exists for an indictment. I'm assuming that, depending upon the specific charges Vance is going for, that this request for Trump's business financials was not deemed unreasonable by the lower court, and now the SCOTUS has agreed with that assessment. No one is doing anything to the 4th Amendment here.

 

You are aware that SCOTUS passed down two rulings, aren't you? One ruling went against Trump and in favor of the New York county court, the other went against congress. The two cases are not related.

Opinions written by the Office of Legal Counsel within the Dept. of Justice, part of the Executive Branch are considered next to gospel of pure legalities and constitutional interpretation. An indictment by the NYC DA or any other District Attorney, US Attorney or AG wouldn't last a New York second. Especially, in the case of Vance, over a prosecution that the SDNY has already declared is a no op.

 

Which he did after promising to release them if he got the Republican nomination. Which he promised to do after already having said he would release them before that.

Of course, Trump never lies. Heck, he's a regular Honest Abe 2.0. So we can believe him when he has said - many times - that his business has been under audit.
