Usually the simplest explanation is the correct one.
Louisiana has the same infection rate as Massachusetts. The difference being they were open for business Mass. wasn't.
I'll give the smart guys some time on the vaccine. I sure wouldn't throw in the towel without trying.
People won't go back to work if everyplace starts to look like New York. So you might as well save some lives.

Math isn’t your thing. I think we’ve determined that in the past. :)

Statistics like tests per million are reported for a reason. It matters to people like me who prefer facts over feelings.

You don't need many tests when you're not having any cases.

Where are you getting information about immunity being granted to those who have had the disease and how long does that immunity last?
I'm unaware of any scientific evidence proving that anyone gets lasting immunity after they are infected.
I really hope they do but until it is proven any talk of herd immunity is just speculation.

Massachusetts has a population of 6.9 million to Louisiana’s 4.65 million. Massachusetts, even at their peak part of their pandemic, tested only 10-14K per day. Louisiana is peaking now and testing 12-25K per day. Massachusetts has 25% fewer cumulative tests than Louisiana. That matters. To confirm cases you must test. It’s funny that if we compare US testing rates to other countries and the US is lower, we criticize the US. At the same time, a state with a terrible death rate tests 25% less than another state and you yawn. Bizarre.

I'm not wearing a mask because it's hard to breathe and I don't have to. Don't really care what anyone thinks, the exceptions to the governors edit expressly says I don't have to wear one.

Isn't amazing how many people who just a mere 90 days ago were experts on everything Trump and suddenly today they are all infectious disease experts?

Louisiana only tested about 5000 a day during it's first peak so I think your argument died..:deadhorse:

You test when you need to test. For the US that ship has sailed. We can't trace the tests we have now. Our only fix is another shutdown in the states with outbreaks.

I haven’t made any claims of longevity in this thread. I have gone into more depth in other threads. Here I am just pointing out certain states are definitely benefitting from herd immunity right now.

Here’s one place to start if you want to delve into the subject.
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...avirus-in-absence-of-antibodies-idUSKBN24B1D8

There is a lot of information out there if one prefers such things to doom and gloom. Much is yet to be learned, but all indications and data we have on this one and other similar viruses points to T cell immunity being at least 2-7 years with the possibility of being much longer. This information we are gathering is valuable to those creating vaccines as well as to natural herd immunity. The above link gets into that a little. There are no cases yet where a person is confirmed to have been reinfected. A recent random antibody study in NYC found some boroughs with as high as 68% of population positive for antibodies. That isn’t speculation. And at least temporarily it is a very good thing.

Look at how few tests Massachusetts did initially. Again with a much bigger population. Bottom line is Massachusetts has done less tests on a larger population and came up with similar cases per million. Only in a science deniers mind does that not matter in the context of our discussion. You simply don’t understand the math or you don’t want to deal with the reality the math reveals.
Massachusetts didn’t. Now they are testing at rates similar to May. Why are they testing so many if they don’t need to? You should know by now I’m not a fan of people like you trying to argue two diametrically opposed views at the same time. Oh well. It’s you who looks silly so I guess I shouldn’t worry about it...
