How do we share a nation with people who hate our country and our traditions, institutions, culture and freedoms? Why should we? What shared assumptions and values remain between normal Americans and leftists that will allow us to work together as fellow citizens?

    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/07/is-disunion-in-our-future.php

Not civil war, but Brexit. There are Left Wing Cities, SF, LA, NYC, Berkeley, Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago and the list goes on, that simply hate us, hate our freedom and Liberty, and feel a compulsive need to try to force their ways on us. We have to think about what to do when we've had enough, and it need not be violence, it can simply be amicable divorce.

Our fellow Americans in the Red areas of these Blue States, they hate just as much, and of course, any County that votes to remain in America, will need to be free to remain as US territories until they can form new Free States. Except for the Federal Buildings that will remain in DC, all the residential areas should return to Maryland, joining whatever path the Blue portions of Maryland determine is best for them.

We'll need to keep our major bases and harbors, and since we'll provide their national security, we'll need to collect those costs via tariffs. Their share of the Social Security Trust Fund Liabilities will need to be turned over to them to manage on their own, as they see fit.

I think we are all growing tired of the acrimony, it's time to think about parting ways and letting each seek their own destiny.

Apparently you are unaware that in 1972, 49 of the 50 states voted to elect Richard M. Nixon president of the United States of America. Only Massachusetts and Washington D.C. voted for McGovern. We all know how that turned out ??? That was a case of Nixon 49 and the USA 1.

What is your specific complaint? That only two states wasted their votes?

West coast ports and most of the key East Coast ports would be under their control. Not really a good idea. From the military standpoint, Hawaii is too strategic to let go. But that 182 to 356 sure looks good.....

Why? We still have a base in Cuba, but we can't keep our ports? Sure we can.
We'll keep our bases in HI as well. We'll need to provide their military security, so of course we'll need our ports and bases. You think Iceland has an army? They don't. We protect Iceland. Ditto the East and West Coasts.
The 182 are the ECV of the States that are likely to leave, that's not really accurate as all that's leaving is their big cities. Except for the city of Portland, Oregon is a Red State. Eastern WA is a red state. Most of CA is a red state. Except for Chicago, Illinois is a Red State.

I'm just tired of fighting with them, the Red areas aren't trying to control Blue areas. Yet these few Blue Cities think they know how folks in Omaha should live? Folks in Omaha aren't trying to tell folks in NYC how to live.

There is a serious risk of America’s irreconcilable minority of leftists dragging down the rest of us. Let them go their own way. I've had enough the conflict. They don't like us, they don't respect us, so let them walk.

Another way might be to free rural red counties from the tyranny of nearby Blue cities by letting them form independent States or join adjoining States, coupled with the real Federalism that would allow Blue Cities to live as they wish.

Why are people under this impression everyone should think the same?

You just kicked out the states that generate over 1/3 of the nation's GDP, the largest sea ports, and the Tech Centers that have driven the US economy for the last 20 years. With the loss of Chicago and NY Stock exchange and the banks, your new country will have to spend trillions just to restart their economy. Florida voted for Obama in 2012. That pretty much means that your "dream" country would have the GDP of France. Whatever.

Can you cite the language in the treaty that allows a state to be "kicked out"?

Well we have to consider not everyone in those states thinks like that. Besides that there is the constitution to consider and the possible divisiveness that would ensue. What we need is a return to federalism that way those states like California can ruin themselves and not affect the rest of us.

I support secession. I don't support kicking out political rivals.

I'd love to see blue parts of red states join blue neighbors and red parts of blue states join red neighbors. I think that would alleviate a lot of the political animosity and help build more demonstrable and perceptible mandates.

There is no legal basis to kick out states, but we can simply revert to federalism, as the founders envisioned, and that way we get to keep the country and each state can follow it's own path. It's a win/win.

LOL! @Zorro wants to kick out states that supposedly don't agree with his agenda, and he has the audacity to call those America hating states? Seems there is only one in this post who hates America....

BTW: You forgot to end your post with another image of a scantily clad lady toting a gun. Are you trying to regain your credibility?

If you mean those reactionary, secessionist right-wingers, still dreaming of winning the civil war and rejecting our traditions, institutions, culture and freedoms, I agree. They would be happier in Russia.

Cities: Your reading comprehension kinda sucks.
We have a duty to secure the rights of Americans.
Blue Cities are not securing the rights of their citizens.
What do your propose as a solution?

No, states that the leaders refuse to punish criminals and disregard rule of law. Don't worry, you guys are on track for the war you want though.

In actual practice it clearly isn't. Othewise the Supreme Court wouldn't be deciding there should be a national policy on abortion. If each state were allowed to do whatever it wanted on abortion, it would remove it as a national issue.

Ah, so the general government has declared its powers. Shocking!! But not sure what that has to do with the constitution.
