It's already been done for a century.

A good result would be a massive cash settlement to get them to sod off. Failing that, just unilaterally seize it as it has been for over a century.

Or maybe we could just give the 1st Nations some sort of token benefit, like some money or letting them keep all the taxes from legalized drugs. It's not like they want to secede or something.

But nah, you're right. Let's just **** em yet again. Let's make sure that the rest of the world understands that our Treaties aren't worth the paper they're written on

I support a sovereign nation of Indians, just not a state within a state based along racial grounds.

All I'm asking for is for Congress to clarify the century old current situation, as per Gorsuch's request.

What else could a "sovereign nation of Indians" be based on but being a member of the Amerind "race"?

That being noted, what you suggest seems very much like what we have now. Indian "reservations" are actually 'sovereign' entities within the USA, are they not?

Although both sides in that situation feel that concerns over civil and human rights are not misplaced.

Not within the US. A separate nation.

    Where?

Most Amerinds I know rather like it here. What is it with conservatives anyway, always wanting to kick people out of the country?

Frankly there is a lot of confusion. The muscogee jurisdiction I thought was already I place because they have a police force that works with regular police mainly in an area around Okmulgee. They build housing for low income citizens....figured they already had some sort of land rights. Clarity would be a good thing.

What does concern me are the activists getting juice. Some are already protesting the land run monument which represents a hugely important piece of of our history.
