Democratic Presidents Clinton, Obama left a legacy of political pardoning
President Trump on Friday commuted the three-plus-years prison sentence of former adviser Roger Stone for misleading Congress, prompting the expected outrage from his political detractors. But clemency for politically connected individuals knows no party monopoly.

How many political cronies did Obama pardon that lied to Congress just to protect Obama?

Trump has him beat on that one.

Okay, I made an attempt to scan through the Obama pardon list. I found no one with personal ties to Obama, certainly no one whose pardon would provide Obama any personal advantage. It was a seemingly endless list of minor marijuana and cocaine users/dealers along with petty thieves and tax cheats. The other link speaks of James Cartwright, with whom Obama may have been friendly, but there still was no political advantage in that pardon.

In Clinton's case, I do agree that his 11th hour pardon of Marc Rich smells fishy, but since then has there been any gain for Bill Clinton in that pardon? None that I know if.

But in the case of Roger Stone, Trump has gained a clear advantage in commuting Stone's sentence instead of issuing a pardon. There's a possibility, if Trump loses in November, that Trump himself may be indicted and tried for related crimes. If he pardons Stone for the crimes listed in his conviction, and Stone is called as a witness in a Trump trial, Stone would not be able to refuse to answer questions due to 5th amendment rights, since he's already been pardoned for those crimes. If, on the other hand, his sentence is commuted, then he can still claim fear of self-incrimination at a Trump trial.

Unlike Clinton or Obama, everything Trump does or says is completely self-serving.

Since the Russian collusion charge has been proven a complete hoax your point is moot

haha y’all really got to let go of this false hope that trump is going to be indicted for anything related to mueller’s hoax of an investigation

trump did what he djd simply because he thought stone was being treated unfairly

clinton did what he did because of money and obama did what he did with convicted terrorist because he supports violent left wing terrorist

Almost like people expect you to have discussion on a forum designed to host discussions...

That said, I would be perfectly fine with removing the power to pardon across the US.

    Keep on telling yourself that.

If Trump loses this election, there could be some handcuffs waiting for him in January. If there truly is any real justice to be had in America, he'll be indicted on several obstruction charges as soon as he leaves the Oval Office. If, on the other hand, he manages a win, the statute of limitations on those obstruction charges will run out by the end of a second term. Why do you think he's so desperate to win?

No it's not that. There's some troll artists here and they get you warmed up only to notify the moderators. Who have told me to I'm close to suspension, so I'll take the heat to avoid confrontation from certain folks. If you want to discuss something with me personally PM me.
