It seems both sides are overconfident this round. Metrics including betting averages are pointing in one direction though so I can understand some of it on one side.

    I don't require your belief.

Go visit a hospital in Houston, or Phoenix, or Tallahassee.

No, don't "give me your stuff," just get that knee off my neck and stop keeping me from being able to earn my own stuff!

Not only did I read the article, I quoted from it.

    ROFLMAO!!

    :roflol:

American politics is almost entirely about character and personality. If it weren't, we wouldn't have Trump.

Once you announce your candidacy for any high government office, and sometimes even before you announce, the mud starts flying about every aspect of your personal life. Want privacy? Don't run for office.

You missed the point. This has nothing to do with a politician wanting privacy. I am talking about the voters.

Do you think most people vote for a politician based more on their character and personality, or more on their platform and ideology? Are you saying that you would vote for a candidate who had outstanding character, personality, and charisma, even if his ideology was opposed to yours?

Democrats will vote for a candidate with Democrat ideals regardless of his/her character and personality. Republicans will vote for a Republican candidate with Republican ideals regardless of his/her character and personality.

Right now, the left is constantly bashing Trump's character and personality. But that doesn't matter when the actual direction is to stop the leftist/socialist/progressive agenda. So by all means, continue with the bashing of Trump's character and personality, because it just doesn't matter. Ideology matters.

Actually, very little of that applies to this election. This time the choice is binary: yes to more Trump, or no to more Trump. So it is about Trump's toxic personality and his inability to do his job.l

I've never considered Biden to be an especially strong candidate, and a lot depends on his choice of running mate. In my opinion, Biden is probably smart to stay as quiet as he's been, both because it shows that he takes this pandemic seriously and because Trump is, as usual, acting as his own worst enemy. FFS, he's having oppo research done on Dr. Fauci, of all people, just because Fauci won't join him in wishing away this virus. I don't have to bash him. He does that himself, for all who are willing to see and acknowledge it.

You're right that it is, at least in part, about ideology. The fact is, Trump has no clear ideology ... he's all over the political map. He's become right wing after a lifetime of registering as a Democrat, only because he saw it as a path to power and money for himself. And ideologically, the majority of American voters are left-leaning centrists for whom the "kitchen table" issues like health care and the economy bear the most weight, and Trump is not helping himself there. At the height of a pandemic, Trump has his people trying their best to cut tens of millions of us out of the health care market entirely, just when we need it the most.

All Biden needs to do is make a few video appearances and let Trump do the "leg work" that will get Biden elected.

Then we would need a bill to help pay for that and make it possible. Old people still need to go out to shop, get packages delivered by young people, eat food prepared and packaged by young people, walk in parks around young people, get cared for by young people in nursing homes, live with sons and daughters, live in retirement communities maintained by young people, go to hospitals and clinics young people go to, etc etc. Also, quarantines are supposed to be short-term but we would have to quarantine them long-term since there is no end in sight.

Also, people in theirs 40s, 50s, and 60s are vulnerable too and even if they don't die, many of them need medical attention and can overwhelm hospitals. Do we quarantine 1/3 the population here?

So far, some hospitals in Houston are full. This will get worse once those young people start infecting middle-age and older people. We have seen this story play out in new York. Things will get a lot worse in Houston. You will see.
    https://www.propublica.org/article/...d-icus-leave-covid-19-patients-waiting-in-ers

If someone gets covid and dies of uterine cancer they had before, they aren't counted as a covid death. Doctors do access symptoms when looking at the reason for death. It is extremely unlikely that you came in with covid symptoms, needed a ventilator, and then died of a completely unrelated issue in just a week or two. The problem is that we have been undercounting the number infected so many people who died of covid-related illnesses never got recorded. The difference in deaths between this year and previous years is much larger than the official number which is strong evidence the covid deaths are underreported.

Are you effing kidding? smh ... You're a white male, aren't you?

Aside from the literal knee on the neck that killed George Floyd, if you don't understand the hypothetical knee on the necks of all minorities, especially black Americans, then you are either not paying attention or you're in denial, which is an acronym for Don't Even kNow I Am Lying.

Holy crap, you have really lost the plot.

Yeah, I'm white and I have nothing to apologize for and everything I have and accomplished I have done on my own and not at the expense of anybody including minorities. I have no knee hypothetical or otherwise on the neck of anybody and neither do the vast majority of white people in this country. The only knee that is hurting black people is the knee of the government and democrat polices which treat black people as morons who cannot take care of themselves. You have destroyed the black family, aborted millions of black babies and keep millions of black people in poverty by telling them they cannot succeed without the government. You make them dependent of the government and it is killing them. Young black men are killing each other and you look the other way because there is no political capital to exploit. So it is you and people like you that are the hypothetical knee. And you every democrat and any minority can kiss my ass if you think I and the majority of the good, decent white people in this country are somehow to blame for the injustices that exist both real and manufactured.
