Oh, no! Pelosi is going to take away the President's power to pardon.

I know there's no chance of this happening now, while Republicans control the Senate and White House, but should an all-Democrat government get voted into office, well that's another matter.

You do support the President's right to pardon, don't you? Yes? No?

She won't be able to do anything about it.

I don't know about Stone in particular, but judging by a few of these other pardons I have researched, they probably deserved it.

There's been a pattern of deranged prosecutors going after any Trump associates. Some of these people were indeed involved in somewhat shady dealings but the type of stuff that would most likely not have been prosecuted under normal circumstances.

The system is not fair, many of them got excessive sentences.

The prosecutors were involved in a witch-hunt, and used all their power and influence to get the judges to sentence to the maximum. Very oftentimes judges do not do their proper due-diligence and rely too much on the prosecutor for getting all their information. It could have been that, or they were politically biased themselves.

To the regular public, the details in all these cases are too complicated to actually make sense out of, with all the legalese, so they are just relying on someone else's interpretation.

The legislative process that Nancy seeks has no power to change the Supreme Law, the US Constitution.

The only way USC can be amended is to go through the amendment process, specified in the document.

    Nancy is such a dolt.

She spends time and money creating bills that cannot pass just to make political points. She should be able to make the points in a press conference.

The power to pardon is a plenary power granted to the President in the constitution. Any bill she passes is null and void before the ink dries.

I don't think Nancy is really that insane. Half these bills she would never have proposed if she thought they were likely to actually get passed into law.
It's a political stunt. Republicans do the same.

That being said, it's very likely and could be possible with this one she might actually have liked to see it get passed into law. The general feeling is, anything to limit the power of this President they don't like.

I believe in checks and balances and that congressional approval should be required for pardons. Or else hypothetically corrupt presidents could reward corrupt people for not cooperating with investigations.

Trump currently has 11 pardons. Our last President, 1,176. Trump is on pace to get to Obama's level in 150 years.

The Stone case is not a pardon. It is a commutation. Trump didn't say he was innocent. He said the sentence was political and unreasonable.

    Not a joke (?)

    Don't let Trump read this.

He'll pardon every felon in the country, including himself, just to get ahead of Obama.

    Yes, Trump is that crazy.

Trump has only pardoned 11 people. LOL!

Obama pardoned well over 1,000. Nobody buys your fake outrage.
