A Democratic strategist called a Republican female senator “inbred racist trash” for criticizing the founders of the Black Lives Matter group.

Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn critiqued the nonprofit Black Lives Matter national organization in a Monday tweet, saying that BLM is run by “trained Marxists.” She clarified in a later tweet her comment referred to BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who has called herself and her fellow BLM organizers “trained Marxists,” according to the New York Post.

“We cannot allow our great country to be destroyed under the pretense of social justice,” Blackburn tweeted. She did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. Democratic strategist and former National Field Director for the Democratic National Committee Adam Parkhomenko attacked Blackburn for her comments, saying in a tweet: “You are inbred racist trash. Please **** off.”

This must be a definition of tolerance I was previously unaware of.

Because she doesn't align with his ideology, she must be smeared, this is pure Communist strategy, straight out of the textbook.

What would be a reasonable understanding or assumption of BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors' claim that they are 'trained Marxists'?

...or was her statement, iyo, meaningless?

Probably realizing that lots of dodger t members make it up, and being trained in something doesn’t make them something. I took ddp in high school. I’m not an engineer.

This man is a nobody, not even a has been, he is a never was. His candidate lost in 2016 that makes her a loser so then what would that make him besides unemployed. Actually he's currently employed as a mall cop or something like that. Anyway what he said to Sen. Blackburn was also a veiled shot at southerners.

It means that a BLM leader was bragging that she and her co-leaders were trained Marxists. Brought to you by the people who push rioting, looting, mugging, and the occasional murder in the name of leftist . . . justice. So . . . no worries, eh?

What do you think she meant to convey by explaining that her movement is led by 'trained Marxists'? Why else might she consider that noteworthy if not as an indicator of the movements ideology?

    The full context:
In response to an expressed concern of "a lack of ideological direction" within the BLM movement in an interview on the Real News Network (linked at bottom), Cullors responded:

"The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk. ...."

How does this not equate to Marxism being a part of BLMs' founders' ideological direction for their movement? Why else might she consider it pertinent to specify in her response to a critique of "a lack of ideological direction"?

It sounds to me like she said her movements ideological direction is to use Marxism to help black folks. If you're able to interpret something else from her response, I'm all ears (or eyes, as it were).

Not sure how whether or not its legal is relevent to any of my comments, as I have not (and do not) supported suppressing any speech with restrictive laws.

As to who cares... probably a lot of black folks that don't like Marxism would care if BLM is a Marxist movement.

Well I can’t say for sure but my guess is that it’s a reference to the black Marxism of the 1960s. Marxism in of itself doesn’t see race so much as it sees a group of people discriminated on the basis of race. They’re all just workers fighting against the wealthy elites who imperialize them. From there it wouldn’t surprise me if there were neocolonial arguments. Though I suppose colonial arguments could work as well.

    Exactly.

It is much ado about about nothing and Blackburn has a Longstanding (and Well-Earned) Reputation as an Extremist RW Looney Toon.

It is a Complete Disgrace that she even occupies a seat in the U.S. Senate.

It is no big deal, and Blackburn is well aware that a person who occupies her office is open to personal attacks.

Couldn't happen to a nicer gal.

So, in summary (please correct me if I've missed something) you "can't say for sure" what she really meant, but you are sure that she didn't mean that BLM's ideological direction includes Marxism, and you agree that people who think thats what she said are "on average" 'inbred racist trash', even though (and its worth emphasizing with repetition) you "can't say for sure" what she meant instead.

    Yup. And?

I don’t know. My guess is no. Neocolonialism relies on some ideas borrowed from Marxism. My ultimate guess? It’s an anti neocolonial organization that relies on structuralism. Though that might be a stretch, especially since that really refers to IR.
