I say this is a failure of our judicial system. If the authorities have enough evidence to arrest a person that person should expect a trial within 30 days. I don't understand a person being held in jail for a year awaiting their day in court. I do agree Maxwell is a flight risk and should be denied bail. Heck, during WW2 Boeing-Wichita was producing an average of 100 B29 Superfortresses a month. The judges and lawyers need to streamline the judicial system.

Ghislaine Maxwell breaks down in tears as she is DENIED bail and must stay locked up until her July 2021 trial as judge rules Epstein's 'madam' has shown 'sophistication in hiding her finances AND herself and poses significant flight risk'

she can object to the trial date...my guess is she didn’t and waived her right to a speedy trial due to the nature of the charges and complex nature of the case

When the US founders were talking about cruel and unusual punishment they were talking about things like drawing and quartering.

They would also be appalled to see people sitting on death row for decades.

    They also demanded speedy trials.

So we are so past founder intentions, that this case hardly registers.

War inspires innovation and we were a unified country, one nation under God. The left changed all that. If we find ourselves in another world war I'm afraid that half the country would refuse to fight. That is what is wrong with the judicial system. As with many other parts of our government it has been diluted and perverted by the left. Much of a government is a swamp, it needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the Constitution up.

No, I wouldn't change a word in the original document but would rid it of all of the crap it has accumulated in the past 230 plus years.

Can we really say drawing and quartering is "cruel and unusual" for what she did? Im up to pulling up the woodchipper and feeding her feet first into that thing.

The CRA isn't in the constitution, its just and Act, not an amendment. And all the CRA did was to stop democrats from putting undue tests and restrictions on minorities.

I feel that way about a lot of people.
I think that some people have committed crimes so heinous that they don’t deserve to live but torturing people before death teaches them nothing.
I’m in favor of a nitrogen chamber.
People simply pass out and never wake up.

Maxwell reportedly had multiple passports and money in several countries. That made her a flight risk all by itself. They put her into a cell wearing only paper clothes to prevent any hanging (by her or a guard) and if her lawyers are only good at all, she'll get charges dropped when witnesses catch amnesia.

She could always just plead guilty - then it would save tons of time and money. She knows she's going down, just get it over with.

I have no sympathy for violent criminals. They need to be gone. Maybe they should be forced to die in the way they killed others. Bin laden dying in a plane crash or in a building consumed in fire or Manson knifed to death. I just think it’s easier not to sink to their level. However this nonsense about being on death row for decades is unbelievably cruel. There has never been a single case where these people have ever been found innocent in that period of time.
If you are going to kill someone then do it fast.

The CRA is not in the Constitution but those rights are but were not enforced until the CRA.

In my conspiracy theory mind, she and Jeff had a deal - after he's dead, she can sing to save her skin. Let's hope its true

Great news for unemployed headsmen. Put a chopping block in every courtroom. Your appeal is how loud you might scream being dragged to it. Or the old fashion gallows on the county courthouse lawn.

Yes there has.several in fact. Sadly one of the first casualties of a criminal justice system in which DA is seen as a stepping stone to higher political office is that unscrupulous asses will find it expedient to put someone, anyone in jail in high profile cases.

I believe he is lamenting that it has already been 'fundamentally' changed. The gears of justice turned much faster once upon a time,

There won't be a trial, just a plea deal and it will take a bit of time to determine who to sacrifice for the greater good. Not everybody that went down is going down now.

It all depends on how many tapes she copied (or took) from Epstein's haul while filming VIPs at, er, play. There are evidently a number of LLCs being created to mask where her money is going or with whom she's currently spending time. But the feds nailed her at a million-dollar home despite her hiring supposedly professional guards. If that poor a level of security is involved then wherever she did store those tapes will probably show up as part of that plea deal you mentioned. I can hear the burn-furnace roar from here.
