I created the thread because Trump is killing America with his Big Mac consumption. He’s a horrible role model and should be impeached. We need a president that shows us how to live, how to eat, how to exercise and what to think. Trumps a bad dad to us

the mishandling of the virus is Trump's fault

This is the first time I've heard of this. Do you have a valid source for it?

I agreed with you. Trump caused Covid which can cause heart problems. Add this to his conspicuous BigMac consumption and his it s not wearing a mask and start impeachment proceedings.

So you don’t think Trump eating Big Macs is a serious issue? How is that different from him not wearing a mask which the left says is a serious issue? Heart disease still is the biggest killer of Americans.

it statred with Nixon, this is when the push to push grains, seed oils and HFCS on the public began

    https://www.latimes.com/opinion/la-...xon-obesity-epidemic-corn-20120627-story.html

"The story begins in 1971. Richard Nixon was facing re-election. The Vietnam war was threatening his popularity at home, but just as big an issue with voters was the soaring cost of food. If Nixon was to survive, he needed food prices to go down, and that required getting a very powerful lobby on board -- the farmers. Nixon appointed Earl Butz, an academic from the farming heartland of Indiana, to broker a compromise. Butz, an agriculture expert, had a radical plan that would transform the food we eat, and in doing so, the shape of the human race."

Opinion piece aside, not only has the government not 'promoted' fast food, the continuing basic information provided in the food pyramid was supposed to be something to refer to. Then came both parents working, and short cuts and fast food took the place of a relatively nutritious meal made at home. Again, the government wasn't promoting, people made an active choice.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s. Dinner was at home, and your butt better be at the table. Us kids were required to cook one dish a week, to learn about cooking. Additional cooking was always encouraged. Saturday nights we had pizza from the local pizzeria, a treat to be sure. The government wasn't involved.

Some parents now see fast food as a standard, rather than the exception. It seems dinner at home is the exception. Microwave, pre-packaged, take out. Whatever is the least inconvenient for the parent, since one kid won't eat this, and one won't eat that. No government involvement.

While I don't/can't eat fast food, and have always eaten relatively healthy, I make my food choices. No government involvement.

Perhaps it's time individuals be held accountable for their food choices, instead of trying to blame 'someone else', for what one puts in their mouth.

yes, the schools teach government recommendations and lose funding if they do not follow them

same with jails, hospitals, retirement homes, ect.....

by forcing this on our children, we made them addicted to this way of eating and it shows in our obesity rates

fast food is only part of the problem.... it's all the processed food out there and sugar and seed oil being added to almost everything

no, "adverse lining conditions" plus ignorance lead to poor health outcomes. for the price of a single meal at mcdonald's i can feed a family of four for two days and i can feed them well. one of my favorites is red beans and rice with a little bacon to provide flavor and fat. a trip to the produce section costs a fraction of a trip through the various "convenience" aisles, but it requires effort to make the ensuing meals satisfying. proper nutrition is the basis of good health and nutrition is simple and cheap. you only need to put in the effort and have a minimal amount of intelligence.

stress? stress is a personal choice. this is something i know a great deal about. you see, i'm different. you might not notice it at first glance, but ten seconds into any interaction and i will most likely alienate you. it's the way i think and the way i act and it make most everyone very uncomfortable in relatively short order. for years this caused me an incredible amount of stress, but then i recognized that this was merely the fear of others and the stress belonged to them, not me. does it matter that i am ostracized? hell no. that's their problem. there are plenty of people who will accept me and i'm perfectly satisfied with those few. does it matter that law enforcement likes to target me and my kind for "special consideration"? hell no. we endure, accepting the abuse as the price of doing business in a world filled with "sub-normals".

there is a reality that it would be wonderful if everyone could realize - the individual, each and every one of us, is the ultimate minority. you can chose to become part of some artificial collective, become less than your potential as an individual, but you will always be susceptible to the changing attitudes of a group that insists on catering to the lowest common denominator of that collective. do you really want to be the least you can be? if so, i feel sorry for you.

do you really think sugar and seed oils being added to all our food is healthy?

Never said I did. Sugar is added because its cheaper than real food and increases the profit margin on prepared meals. Here's an idea. Cook your own meals.

People opt for fast food because its easy. They claim its cheap but thats only in comparison to real restaurant food. As you say cooking meals yourself is far cheaper than fast food.

that is what I said, food lobbiest pushed for these recommendations cause sugar and seed oil is cheaper and more profitable for them

the problem is, government funding can be removed if places like hospitals, schools, retirement homes, ect... do not follow the government food guidelines

and part of the reason it's cheaper, is government subsidies

the government needs to get out of the food recommendation businesses or let real science determine what is healthy, right now the health of corporations trumps the health of the people sadly

A working parent. Unfortunately, single Dad's, or even working Moms and Dads, fall back to fast food.

Good point. Trump enacted the 5 meals a day law that requires everyone to pack on extra lbs.

    It's all his fault :)
