And who 'forced it' on the children? Not the government. The parent(s). At no time did the government say, ignore the food pyramid! Mickey D's is better!!

yep, raising your blood sugar 5+ times a day and thus raising insulin all day long is bad for the health

but corporate America does not want you to know this

when and how often you eat is as important as what you eat

When Trump signed the 5 meals a day act, I was devastated! I can barely squeeze in 4 meals!

the government via their food recommendations, they forced the schools to follow it, to teach it - and punished schools financially that did not do so

the food pyramid is the problem, they push grains as the main thing you should be eating

I actually do. I have eggs and bacon at 0500-ish. Take my dog for a long run then to the park. Workout (PT) for 30 minutes. Lunch is usually a chicken Cesar salad. I then have a second "lunch" consisted of protein- sometimes a second salad with chicken. Then a dinner that involves chicken or beef.

I workout a ton so I have a lot of calories burnt. I have very low body fat percentage and my heart is in wonderful shape.

The government should never be involved in what someone eats. Much like they shouldn't be involved in abortions.

pretty healthy and low carb, so less of an insulin spike each time, not as bad as having 4 high carb meals a day for sure - as long as your not spreading the meals say over 16 hours, should be fine, give the body time to fast before the breakfast

It's all about mobility. If you're an active person, you need to eat more. If you're someone who sits at a computer all day which many jobs require, you may need to eat less.

I'm a HUGE fan of doing pushups and situps randomly throughout the day. Even when I'm enjoying TV with my wife in the evening, I'll do pushups and situps during commercial breaks. It's addicting :)

when you eat is important too as is what you eat, but yes, if you are more active you will be able eat more

sounds like your meals are not high carb, so you should be fine

Did you know that snacking throughout the day can be healthy? Snacking can expand your stomach a little bit, and still leave room for your 3 core meals. However, one must be very active too or else it'll backfire.

the body was not designed to eat all day everyday, in fact, some fasting days is shown to be beneficial too

maybe grazing on food all day long here and there won't hurt you, but would not make a habit of it

agree, and funding should definitely not be tied to their dietary recommendations

yep, the gov should not be involved in the abortion choice either, that should be left to the women making the choice

Totally depends on the life style. If you're in the military for example, you're constantly active- meaning your body needs to replenish a lot more than the average person.

If you work as a data scientist, you may require less food to operate normally.

    It's all case-by-case based

since the end of ww2 "convenience" has grown by leaps and bounds. you'd be hard pressed to find a single town in america without a taco bell or a wendy's and mcdonald's has become an international phenomenon. "easy" is the new buzz-word and what started as the occasional tv-dinner has progressed into a multi-billion dollar industry that sends prepackaged meals to your doorstep, no muss, no fuss and hardly any effort required. certainly there is no choice or responsibility for those choices.

and it isn't just the way we eat. the culture of "easy" has invaded every facet of our society.

if you can use up the glucose before it does damage, sure

but remember, fructose is hard on the liver and treated like alcohol by the liver, thus leading to fatty liver

    sugar is half fructose

a calorie is not just a calorie... what you eat matters

the military is studying the keto diet now as well, as many benefits, one being not as much food needs to be carried and you do not need to eat as often, and can hold your breath longer....

"New military study: “Remarkable” results among soldiers on a ketogenic diet"

    https://www.dietdoctor.com/new-military-study-remarkable-results-among-soldiers-on-a-ketogenic-diet

"The study notes that the modern soldier needs to maintain optimal health and readiness, but that an estimated two-thirds of US military personnel are currently overweight or obese, which mirrors the obesity epidemic in the general US population. The US military follows the US dietary guidelines when feeding personnel; thus, low-fat, high-carbohydrate foods are standard fare for troops."

Yes, why just the other day Trump and his goons were in a McDonald's forcing people to eat Big Macs at gun point, demanding that they order large fries and to make extra trips for free soda refills.

You mean you didn't know Trump has a secret heart disease ray gun that causes an almost instant coronary infarction? I thought it was common knowledge.

It depends on what your snack is.
