Oh come on get real this crap now appears to have started as long ago as last August. They didn't tell anyone about it till December while sending plague bearers all over the world and then lied and told every one that human to human transmission didn't happen, and you think that did not affect the death toll? You've got to be kidding.

    At 1/10 the rate.
It's why we are failing at contact tracing.

Honestly I’m just upset we have people in positions of power who think it’s “doing science!” To let kids back into school. Yeah China did what China do. And pull yourself up by you’re boot straps

One child can affect many before it is detected even with increased testing.

You know, it's not my fault you don't understand the science of this virus.
Go look at the rate of doubling early on in the outbreak and it should be obvious your statement couldn't be true.

Yep. The little devils are very dangerous. That's why we should be real careful.

Easier to do if people aren't cutting the bootstraps before you get hold of them. Education is how kids acquire bootstraps to pull up.

Ooh ooh! I know!... How about an epidemiologist?

    Exactly!!!!

Nah! We deny that science should be a factor in deciding whether or not to reopen schools. Just like we deny Climate Change. Oh... and Al Gore is a member of the John Birch Society.

Would that be the education of irony? Crying about how this generation is lazy for blaming others what happened to them, while Blaming others for what happened to them?

Generally they are looking for diluting the air containing the virus. They know from the epidemiologist hos much virus per unit volume is coming out of the person and the desired dilution per unit volume. I would bet that someone with an engineering knowledge of air flow in a building would be better equipped to handle those calculations than an epidemiologist. Especially given that they dealing with unknowns.

Sorry I do understand the science. It isn't that difficult. It is, however, a function of who you want to listen to. Everyone is saying different things pretending they aren't isn't science it's politics

Well if you're into lousy analogies you certainly hit on one. This isn't about pulling yourself up by your boot straps far from it, this is about how and where a virus came from.

On the other hand, in many ways, Engineers, actually, are possibly one of the most ill-suited of professions to claim competence in dealing with unknowns. By education, we are trained to fear failure and to answer word problems with 100% mathematical accuracy with sample calculations proving each and every step. Obviously this education gets compromised for most of us in the real world of earning a living, much of us work in jobs that never require us to exercise the hard core math we needed to show competence in to get the ticket to play.

I am passingly familiar with the specific skill you claim is essential, it is called computational fluid dynamics and one of the leading applications to model it is called Fluent. I can just about assure you that anyone using Fluent to successfully model indoor safe occupancy levels with respect to virus infectious transmission loads will not be the center of attention that you seem to think he or she will be.

Ya don't need a weatherman, engineer, or an epidemiologist to tell which way the wind blows....

What ya need is a pantry full of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, a fridge full of cold beer, and a shitload of Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest Catch, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and if you really wanna get after it Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones reruns. Soon, I'll be unable to coherently form sentences to post, but at least it won't be because of watching FOX, MSNBC, CNN, OAN, etc....

For those that specialize in airflow, it is not an unknown.
With reasonable precautions, outside is generally not that big a problem.

    Geeze gary.
Look at the rate of increase in cases in any country and then tell me it's been around since August and nobody noticed until December.

Airflow is not that difficult with respect to minimizing infectious viral loads from human respiration. All that is required would be ceiling inlets and flooring returns with HVAC inlet pre-filters and UV. This would require an above average flow and distribution such that the entire interior of a room is subject to near vertical streamlines of ceiling to floor airflow. Of course the flow must be downward.

In any event, did my reading comprehension fail me yet again or did you imply at the end of your post that engineers were better suited to handling unknowns than medical professionals?
