For the most part I agree, but I find it hard to believe in absolutes. I wonder if this mask is effective, or maybe even dangerous, in some situations. Such as: roofing on a hot day, picking vegetables in the field, working in a hot factory. So far the only people I see trying to force me to wear a mask are those that can do so comfortably .Try running a marathon in one. Then try it 5 nights a week. That's my job basically.

People in office cubicles have a much lower contact risk than I do .They don't share keyboards .Some jobs require constant touching of objects/surfaces that 20 other people just touched. My instinct says that to be the safest at these jobs we should practice the distancing but should be wary of mandating masks because one can clearly see by observing their coworkers in these hot sweaty environments that the mask greatly increases their contact risk. Hands are constantly in people's faces .Everyone is basically putting all their coworkers hands in their mouths.

I guess we will see if I'm right if we start seeing whole factories/warehouses getting sick like those meat packing plants a while back.

Ok, finally, a topic where I might actually side with the left. LOL
I am in favor of wearing the mask (don't take that as I want to). Granted I don't feel it does a lot, but if it helps a little, then it's worth doing. Yes, I hate putting it on. But I do it so I can roam freely. I am not scared of getting sick myself, so I am doing it to help mitigate the spread in case I have it and don't know it. I long for the day when we don't need to worry about this, but for now, this is the reality. I'd rather wear a mask and go places than have another shut down.

I am a project manager. My techs don't wear masks on a roof when working by themselves. They DO wear one when working closely with other workers. They don't like it. The masks are uncomfortable but they don't want to get sick or get their families sick.

And that's all I ask of employers. Case by case review of the activity. Unfortunately my and many other employers are going full mask nazi .

Yes! I am no closer than 20 feet from another person for 3 hours at a time. But I will hear about it if I take it off. Btw I do wear it while transiting the plant/break room.

Many state laws do require you to wear a mask while indoors even if you are alone. I think it is a great requirement/law. Walk the walk or ****. Hopefully, they will require a mask to be worn 24/7 until the Chinese virus is no more although it is tough to get a good night's sleep.

Like I said, wear one during a marathon in which you must carry a baton that you must constantly switch off with other runners and tell me the mask is always great .

When this virus first got here masks were recommended but not mandatory, most people I saw out and about did not wear them. We supposedly weathered the initial storm and 'flattened the curve' without masks being the overriding factor. Experts told us that masks were pretty much ineffective for stopping the virus, if it stopped the virus we wouldn't be able to breathe through it. Now, masks are life and death?

We have the panic stricken (thank you MSM) public running around masked up like the old time Daltons and James Boys gangs, verbally enforcing that we all mask up, even getting physical about it from time to time. It looks to me as if immunity is not the only exploitable herd trait. There is not a cure that is a panacea and it is politically necessary to keep the public panic stricken but they need a teddy bear to hold in the dark so we give them masks. Those little pieces of paper, soaked with everything that floats in the air around us will save humanity.

    Bullshit!

Some hard cases with a dogmatic adherence to science denial have proved immune to sensible explanations concerning the efficacy of wearing masks in public to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

Even if they are still in thrall to ideological claptrap, they need to respect their master's words that have finally, begrudgingly, as a consequence of his ongoing failure to lead, come to reflect a modicum of the dismal reality and the intelligent, responsible response to it.

For those who respect science and the advice of epidemiological experts over the crackpot elixirs of reality-tv performers in matters of public health, the evidence has been clear all along.

A candyass symbol repugnant to manly men who scoff at that puny ol' virus!
It's prissy boys like Biden that wears them sissy masks!"

Well, you'll find the mentally ill selfish people fighting mask use tooth and nail....

They think stupidly "the government can't tell me what to do, I'll show how "independent" I am by not wearing a mask" …

Yet these cowards wouldn't dare throw their garbage in the street..

    They pay their taxes...

They don't go out in public naked.

    They don't drive 80 in a 30 zone.

    They went to school.

In my town they can't let their dogs bark.

They drive on the right side of the road.

The government tells them what to do from birth and they don't even realize it.

So for them to try to show how "intelligent" and "" independent" they are by not wearing a mask is so assinine...like OOOH they are so BRAVE and really showing everyone how much better they are than those mask wearers..

Nope, if they were strong and independent they'd be living TOTALLY INDEPENDENTLY ON AN ISLAND and they AREN'T.

And, of course, most are righties so they don't give a damn about all those PRECIOUS LIVES they are endangering ...

~ Trump says : "Wear a mask and be patriotic like me ! "
Soon media hounds and experts abound will exclaim the pointlessness of masking up that "newly released research" proves once again orange man is wrong .

    `´ Trump the genius.

I think you've mistaken me for someone who believes the masks are life and death. I didn't say any of what you posted. In fact I even caveated my post with a disclaimer that I don't believe they will do much.

I agree with your point on the media. I just don't think that wearing a mask indoors for now is all that big of a deal. So I do it. Not for me, but on the off chance that I am a carrier and happen to sneeze or cough, etc. Hopefully mitigate the propulsion.

LOL. No, being healthy includes things like a good diet and exercise. Things that improve the conditions you give as examples. It’s no wonder there are so many co-morbity C19 deaths in this country if the population thinks like you.

I went to Walmart and Home Depot this morning. I wore a mask.

    On my elbow.

When the clerks said something about it I said "take it up with the governor" and went along my merry way.

Sorry, was a rambling comment on the way the government has been responding today contrasted with the beginning. We all wear masks inside now, they may even help some. I hope so.

absolutely. Those living alone could risk giving covid to themselves. Also, the excuse of eating, drinking, showering, shaving or brushing of teeth is getting old. Just wear the mask all of the time. In fact, we should sew up our nostrils and mouths

long before Covid was even a thing, research showed that mass-wearing of masks helped prevent the spread of flu-like viruses.

Scientist can prove that if you hold your breath long enough you will never catch a communicable disease again.
I think even avatars should be masked.
