Already seeing players taking a knee before games. My team plays tonight, if they do it I’ll not watch a game this season.

Sports is a entertainment diversion from life, no politics needed nor wanted. If they insist on intermingling politics into the game then I will walk away. They won’t care, but I’m not interested in being preached at by a ball player anymore than a waiter, plumber, store clerk or anybody else doing their job.

I think day one will be the final day of the season for me, I hope I’m wrong.

Players are allowed to have an opinion.

So are the fans. And we don't pay them for their opinions, we pay them to dribble.

Its a peaceful quiet protest Steve. No riots or nothing burning just peaceful. You can't be mad at that.

    Of course they are.

I don’t want to know it anymore than I know the political opinions of my waiter at a restaurant. They are providing a entertainment service to fans for which they are paid. Keep the two separate.

I don’t share my political views with customers at work. As a customer of MLB why should they share it with me?

The day BLM makes you change your lifestyle is the day BLM owns you.

I’m not mad, I’m just not going to support them preaching their political views to me. I’ll walk away willingly.

I will miss it as well but I get enough politics in the real World, no interest in getting more when I should be enjoying a game.

I see the point of that but do not agree with it in this case. I’m not judging BLM with this, I’m judging MLB and the players that feel they can preach to me when it has nothing to do with the game. Like I said they do not care what I do, but I’m not doing it to effect change by them. I’m doing it because I have a personal standard I will not cross in regards to willing allow people to preach to me. I’ll just walk away and not listen to it.

Maybe because other fans may want to hear their message and actually asked pro athletes with a platform to help share their message. You know like, say no the drugs , said no the gangs, stay in school.......
    This is nothing new.

Say No To Drugs is not a political message, anymore than Stay In School was.

    BLM is extremely political.

This is very new to MLB.

Those fans can hear political views from players many others ways if they choose. I should not have to hear them.

My last family trip to Dodger stadium cost me about $1000. If they want to take a knee, I can find better use of my money.

Just how many of the "woke" crowd are big sports fans? I am guessing that this will run off about 90% of sports fans.

I hope you're right. It's time to do what's right instead of what's profitable.
I think one day, it will be both.

If you are willing to give up something you love & enjoy because of the opinions of someone who is a part of what you enjoy, that is a YOU issue and you were never a die hard fan anyways.

I love the comments though....."We pay them to play a game and entertain us, not express their political views!" Newsflash for ya......THEY ARE STILL PLAYING THE GAME YOU LOVE!

I would be 100% on your side if the players decide to simply stop playing the game to protest, but they aren't. Since they continue to play the game I love so much, NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, I couldn't care less if they quietly kneel for a few minutes before they play. Again, I am there to watch them play a game which they will play.

    No they are not.

Is there a political party or movement saying kids should take drugs and drop out of school?

MLB also pushes programs driving kids to exercise, to get away from the couch and go outside. Is that political?

Lol...maybe 90% of nascar fans, but don't count on the average pro sports fan to be a paranoid white supremacist.
Notice that the World series champs and the NY Yankees chose Dr Fauci to throw out the first baseball of the MLB season instead of the race-baiter trump.
To anyone who loves America, it was a no-brainer. Dr Fauci should run for potus as a counter to the orange dotard.

Questioning my level of being a fan is silly. I would not continue to go eat somewhere where the waiter felt the need to tell or show me his political opinions before taking my order. This is no different because they can hit a ball.

They offer a product to me as a customer. If they choose to make that product unappealing to me then I’ll walk away. It’s not on “me”, it’s on them. Businesses are set up to attract and retain customers not preach at them about matters that have nothing to do with their service.

The only sport I watch is MLB. I don’t follow or care about any of the others.

Just out of curiosity if you wanted too at work could you display your political beliefs on customers or co workers? I could not, nor should I be able too. It has no place there.

How about ask entertainers to entertain and not try and be social influencers? I have more than one jersey with a players name on it, but I don’t look to those players for political or social guidance. I look to them to pitch the baseball well.

I’ll find out in a matter of hours if there will be MLB in My life this year.

Oh the $1000s and $1000s I have spent ....$5,000 to $7,000 a year easy on tickets and over priced beer! For many years...

I agree I will miss it, deeply. But i love it because it is a diversion from life. If they insist on bringing political and social division into the game then I will walk away.

If the quality of what you are paying for doesn't change, why would you care of the opinion of the person or persons giving you what you want? I don't agree with my Family's politics, yet I do not boycott them from my life. I have been numerous places where I don't see eye to eye with the person running the joint's politics. Hell, where I work at is a clear example of this. But I am not boycotting my place of employment and finding another job because I like what I do here and the people I work with.

I never understood the boycott culture. I see them to be exactly as the cancel culture. "I don't like it, so I want it to go away and I will never give them the time or day or my money again!" If you enjoy it, why would you do that to yourself?

I don’t care about their politics, which is why I do not want to know about them as I watch them. I’m not there for that, and I won’t willing go back to observe more of it.

One of my very favorite bands is extremely liberal. They are pretty politically active, very open about their views. No way we agree on 90% of political issues. Seen them live more than once, they never bring politics into the show. Would love to see them many many more times. The day they turn their concert into a political statement I’ll walk away.

It’s not a boycott, I’m not trying to change their actions. Nor am i asking anyone else to change a thing on if they watch or not. I’m just not going to willingly take time or spend money to see or hear their political opinions.
