Yes its true. But I doubt they are triaging much.

And I'd speculate that if surgeons are moonlighting-its as intensiveness and hospitalists.

Equipment is likely not a problem.

And if they can pay surgeons they can pay nurses.

Granted Texas is a southern state, but its the one I'm most familiar with the medical system.

I was employed with the hospital system.

Wrong. Why are you eager to let trump skate?
Except for bolsonaro and probably Boris Johnson, no other country has had such poor leadership during the pandemic. Notice that they’re all right wingers. In Germany and South Korea, progressive, liberal countries, and nearly everywhere else, they got it right and lost a fraction of our deaths.
Of course, their populations aren’t riddled with fools who think sensible lockdowns and wearing masks are government plots to take away their civil rights.
So we can blame trump and the reactionary, paranoid right for the deplorable state of America. In so many ways.

The Texas governor ****ed up, the reactionary right pitched a fit about wearing masks and the state went to hell and is still there.
    The same with Florida.
As we’re seeing, the main problem with America is the large number of poorly educated, selfish people running around. It’s very sad to see how far we’ve fallen since trump became potus.

So you're blaming Governor Abbott because a Texas town of 14,000 people, 95% Mexican-American (and their relatives/friends across the border in a Mexican town of 15,000), are "poorly educated, selfish people running around" without masks? Okay, the county judge is blaming the outbreak on July 4th BBQ's and socializing. They probably weren't wearing masks. So, he agrees with you on that point.

In summarizing your post: The main problem in America is a bunch of Mexicans running around BBQ'ing without masks, and the the state [Texas] went to hell and is still there. Oh, and "It's Trump's fault."

Rio Grande City, Texas and Camargo Tamaulipas, Mexico: Just like New York City! lol

    Sad post.

The county has 1700 cases total since the beginning. 2p deaths total.
    Since the beginning.

    Since the beginning.

This is about as dramatic as getting a flat tire on a little remote control car.

    Sad sad post.

Yes, border towns have been accustomed to treating non-citizens from Mexico for years with no compensation.

Anecdotally, I have an older Mexican friend whose parents moved to Texas (legally). He and his brother have dual-citizenship in both the U.S. and Mexico. My friend lives in Texas (and has health insurance). His uninsured brother resides in Mexico, but if/when his brother needs serious medical care, he comes to Texas and goes to an emergency room, then goes back home to Mexico. That's not uncommon.

Most of the population in the border towns have friends/relatives who are Mexican nationals, so there is a lot of travel back and forth.

You see how the Mexican state of Tamaulipas is shaped to have a long stretch right at the Texas-Mexico border. (Rio Grande City, Texas is in between Laredo and McAllen at Hwy 54.) Also, the shortest distance by car from Monterrey, Mexico to Texas is the route to Rio Grande City, although Laredo or McAllen would have more hospital capacity.

What does this even mean? Are you saying that if the virus attacked Texas first that they would have handled it better? And what is new york state? the epicenter for the wave was metropolitian NY, the rest of NY state fared much better. To compare a state with a suburban type living environment to a city metro area is disingenuous.

Cuomo didn't have five months time to learn from others, unlike Texas and Florida. But, keep deflecting to Cuomo if it rocks your boat. It won't, however, make Trump, DeSantis and Abbott look any better.

Abbott gave a press conference about the hurricane + Covid. We have all kinds of boats, trucks, helicopters and extra personnel ready for any flood victims to be rescued and transported to shelters. People who get flooded out of their home will go to a shelter where everyone gets a Covid test. Positive patients who do not need medical care will get placed in hotel rooms (together with family members they were living with) in San Antonio. People who need treatment will go to a hospital, and an additional medical "pop-up" shelter is being set up for overflow people with medical needs. I missed the part where he said negative-test people go, but sounds like we'll try to separate flood victims into 3 groups.

The audio on this video is awful on this (had to turn the volume up to max)...

You don't know what deaths per 100K means?

Cuomo packed nursing homes with chi-vi patients turning them into death factories.

I posted and explained what new york state was. If you don't understand spend some time on the CDC website.

Also see New Jersey and Mass. for their stats which are pretty bad as well.

You feel that housing people who test positive for covid19 in an old folk's home is a good idea?

    Texans don't.

We knew well before 5 months ago that forcibly packing nursing homes with confirmed infected cases is a recipe for disaster.

Whats sad is I have heard people say Cuomo did a good job, when I point out the death tolls and measures like above that were made-they revert to "he followed Trump's guidelines.

Its sad because they don't understand that state and local are the leads, and that Cuomo made it his thing to politicize the response by hitting Trump.

Hopefully not too many people will get flooded out. Sounds like we're prepared, just in case of the worst case.

Prayers to our neighbors in S. Texas.
