Trump is much worse than "not intelligent." Tillerson was right.

How would you 'rate' most business people? Intelligent or not? By what ruler is intelligence measured?

One can dislike a person intensely, but that doesn't mean the person is not intelligent.

I was thinking that as I read through the discussion here. The age requirement was made in a different era. The life expectancy rate and even maturity level was different. Girls were married off sooner and raising families by the time today's "kids" are out partying through Spring break and still in the nest. Of course, there are exceptions to the rules, but I don't think it could hurt if we could up the age a bit. Maybe even 40? That would already be almost two generations gap though.

And, in that vein, do you think there should be an upper limit? I haven't really thought about it until people started in on Trump's and Biden's cognitive states.

Agreed on that fight but see the middle-aged Donks looking ahead to their party seniority once Pelosai et al., take dirt naps. I see that middle bunch to start brushing up on sounding like Leon Trotsky and looking like Emma Goldman just to be listened to at all by the incoming leftist horde.

If your business sense can support your own family and the families of five long-time employees (who followed from business to business, as my father's people all did)...well, I'd call that someone who knew how it's done. That's a micro-scale version of what Trump's old man built up before DJT took over and went his own way, as sons of rich daddies sometimes do (not that Don ever amounted to much, what a damn shame about that!)....

How would I rate most business people? A broad mix. Some are lousy with people and brilliant "in the back shop." (Wherever.) Others are the go-getters, the ones following trends to stay competitive and also finding new ways to stretch meager profits even farther. The majority of American business is small business under about 50 employees. Some owners have what it takes. Others, no matter how hard they try, do not. Take the restaurant industry (aside from CODID and drive-through if the place is open at all). Menus change lightning-fast if the owner wants to retain clientele.

It's not like Joe will get elected so his VP would need a VP in 2024 or anything. I mean, sheesh!

Or a long spell of political disgrace for her brainless statements. Do give her credit. She's working herself into an early grave finding new ways to top stupid.

It's the end of the earth! Realllllllly?

How many times did that complete fool Gore assure us we'd all be dead in XYZ years if we didn't shut down the entire freaking planet? Came and went. Meanwhile Al blew his street cred with that bogus protest over the 2000 vote. Is that enough proof he was a global-class sniveler whose BS failed to pan out?

We'll see that misguided prognostication again with Greta-How-Dare-You, and by the time this astral-traveling brain-dead, the darling dummy herself, is old enough to do any serious damage her claim will be long forgotten, old news, move again nothing to see.

Trump's money was given to him. He squandered it. He bankrupted three casinos. Not a good indicator of business sense.

Trump's only success was a reality show, which he was highly successful at; but that wasn't business sense, it was personality.

It's still a cult of personality. The man is totally unqualified for anything other than playing boss on TV.

Agree with her take on the DHS and would add national security outsourcing to the mix. The latter is one of the dumbest ideas and practices conceived and the former needs to be rethought. The initial critics of the concept appear to be clairvoyant today.

2005 progressives, in my opinion, were more focused on equality and changing laws. There was not really any cancel culture yet, and the internet had not yet transformed the landscape of political discourse. That in turn meant that the progressives hadn't yet coalesced into a coalition of nonsense that pushes things like defunding police and the more loony aspects of the Green New Deal. There were no safe spaces or microaggressions. In my opinion the movement still had a head on it's shoulders. Many of the core beliefs I still share. Pro-choice, against useless wars, somewhat socially liberal with a belief that we use taxes to reinvest in our country.

I rate Bloomberg as incredibly intelligent. Joe Perez, who owns the taqueria down the street, not so much.

Owning a business is not a sign of intelligence. In Joe's case, he married into it. In Trump's case, he inherited it.

Trump may have had a little help but he wheeled it into billions. I have never met a stupid billionaire, I've worked for a few and can attest to that. Trump is a billionaire, what are you worth? IQ????

Imo, it would be better to have a senior citizen kook like Whoopi Goldberg as the POTUS with AOC as the VP . This way, the entire spectrum of kooky can be empirically tested, and proved beyond doubt if it works better or worse than the constructs of logical reasoning derived from the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment

It's simple, stupid people don't become billionaires. Billionaires are in a class of their own. Generally they are blessed with superior intelligence, are able to think in three dimensions and are able to focus on many things simultaneously. They have enormous amounts of energy and are workaholics. They are excellent at assessing risk and predicting outcomes. They are often perceived as ruthless but it is just their pragmatic nature, they suffer no fools and won't let anyone get in their way. Many are like Trump socially because of the world they live in but anyone who knows them learns to ignore it. These are people who have both an excellent short and an excellent long game. Underestimate them at your own peril. The few I know are pretty much like I describe but are also fairly grounded and connected to the world, a lot of the negative perceptions of them are from those who really don't know them.

How do you know that? Trump is hiding his tax returns. He lied about why he was hiding them. Why would I believe one word from a hiding liar about his financial status? Trump could be $300,000,000 in debt for all you know.

Trump is none of these things. You've described Bloomberg, whom Trump is viciously envious of.

Trump inherited millions. Some say hundreds of millions. He didn't build the real estate market. His father did.

Trump thought he could leverage his way into dominating Atlantic City. He failed miserably.

He then sold his personality on a highly successful reality TV show. This is his success. This is his image. The reality TV president. He's an idol. A TV turned POTUS idol.

    What he's not is a self-made billionaire.

Exactly. She's like the Sanders wing's older sister. She won't be ready for 4 cycles. That would make her 46, still young.

I don't consider Trump to be a particularly good businessman. What sort of good businessesman bankrupts a casino, where the odds are always in favor of the house?

Donald's father propped him up for many years, mostly because it boosted the old man's business and influence to have a perceived "rich playboy real estate mogul" in the family. Once the old man was gone, Donald had to start getting his funding from banks, and after defaulting on large loans a few times, legitimate banks will no longer do business with him.

Why would a successful businessman have a reputation for cheating his subcontractors, repeatedly? What's the "business model" on forcing your creditors to sue you, then delaying and countersuing until they either settle for pennies on the dollar or go out of business altogether, swamped in legal fees?

I think you already know this. Do you know that the only lending institution that will fund Trump at all is Deutsche Bank, an organization caught, convicted, and currently paying billions in fines for laundering money for easter oligarchs like Putin and his friends? The other bank that those guys have used heavily is the Bank of Cyprus, also under multiple investigations for laundering, and did you know that Trump's Secretary of Commerce, Wilber Ross, was a VP with that bank? Do you not find that the least bit fishy? Think about how all of that figures in to Trump's continued refusal to even hear anything negative about Putin, taking old Vlad's word over that of our own intelligence professionals over and over again.

Yeah, Trump is smart alright. He's a master of cheating and lying and getting away with it. Nobody does it better.

It's millennials in my opinion, all that crap about safe spaces and firing people for expressing an opinion. That's pretty much the opposite of tolerance, which is something liberalism used to be about. Kids these days, they need to be slapped.

He still managed to hold onto multiple properties. Cash flow = bad. Real estate investment worth billions.

Compare to Joe, who couldn't manage to save money out of 40 years of 6-figure a year income, while most Senators and Reps figure out how to get on the gravy train. Compare how much Pelosi, Schumer or Nadler's net worth went up after decades as public "servants".

Two out of three of Biden's kids are deplorable drug addicts. The third kid died of brain cancer.

Biden can't do math or take advantage of a good opportunity. His druggie son is richer than he is, thanks to daddy's coat tails and "foreign job opportunities".

Biden and his wife did make $11 million on book sales wiithin two years after Obama/Biden left office. Nice reward for sitting behind America's first black president, doing nothing but grinning and nodding, for eight years (and making deals with China and Ukraine). Oh, he did watch Honey Boo Boo while traveling on Air Force Two. That's something.
