Democrats are playing politics and trying to “never let a crisis go to waste” by attempting to bail out blue states that were in financial trouble of their own making long before Covid came along.
It will be interesting to see what Trumps executive order consist of. It will also be interesting to watch democrats try to stop it and cause pain and suffering to the American people.

“No additional discussions are planned after nearly two weeks of daily meetings, and lead White House negotiators Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin say they are recommending President Donald Trump move ahead with a series of executive orders aimed at extending the federal moratorium on evictions, continuing federal unemployment benefits and suspending the payroll tax.”

“Democrats' demands for nearly $1 trillion for state and local government had become the biggest sticking point over a deal, multiple sources told CNN.

Question that I have is how are landlords supposed to pay their mortgages if they cannot collect rent?

Democrats tried to meet the wh in the middle wh refused also wanted millions so the FBI could move across the street from trump towers DC that way a competitor would be able to move in.

And why not give money to all states it isnt just blue states it is red states feeling the squeeze. Most red states take in WAY more than they give so what do you have to say on that?
Trump of course have told the battleground state of Arizona he would send them money....

Bailing out long broke red states and forgiving student loans have been on democrats wish list before Covid. They are holding America hostage over these two points

Democrats put a relief plan together expeditiously, and offered to compromise on it.

Republicans have yet to get their thumbs out and come together on any alternative plan.

The fat assed, self-proclaimed dealmaker has been whining hysterically about his successor hating God and taking suburbanites' windows away rather than exhibiting leadership and making a deal.

It applies to people receiving federal rent assistance or homes with federal backed mortgages on them which are only about a third of rentals by the estimates I have seen. IDK but I assume the ones with mortgages can apply for federal relief with their lender

The House Dems dont hve to negotiate. Nancy should have simply written a bill and passed it in the House and sent it to the Senate for a vote by the crook McConnell. If it was rejected then she should have written a new bill with more things in it and sent it to the Kentucky crook again. The White House has nothing to do with it until impeached trump gets it.

Nothing about student loans. Btw all states are in trouble this year balancing expect many state jobs to be gone this includes roadway crews fire officials and police. Teachers also would be on that list..

These politicians must not realize how many businesses are holding on by a string. Without this going forward, trust me, you will see an enormous amount of shuttered business.

    Like. Devastating, great depression style.

Every small business I know, and I have one too, is living week to week.

With the last stimulus payout to the States Vermont applied some to rental relief and some to mortgage relief for landlords. Fair.

While Vermont doesn't have a balanced budget requirement, the only state that doesn't, it balances it's budget.

Vermont also has several trust funds that it maintains for rainy days. One being the unemployment fund. I understand California ran out of state unemployment funds on the second week of the shutdown. Vermont's fund hasn't yet dipped into the negative.

Vermont balances it's budget, why now should Vermont loan money to the proflegate drunks in California?

    Why?

But are you ok with slipping in student debt forgiveness? Or letting wealthy people have their SALT deductions back? Or sending $$$$'s to states which were trashed by riots, which they enabled? Or continuing to pay low income workers more not to work than they earn working, which also makes it harder for businesses to have enough of these types of employees?

Because I'm not happy about any of that, and all of it is things the Democrats are fighting for. (Or they were, I don't know details of the latest daily negotiations, but I can't imagine it's much different than their original wish list.)

    Absolutely not.

But if they play politics with this, it will be absolutely devastating.

    I'm just stating facts.

PPP loans all ran out, fear of another shut down is on the horizon, businesses just can't take anymore of this.

Best to research first on what you say

    https://vermontbiz.com/news/2018/january/18/vermont-ranked-fifth-dependence-federal-government

Vermont is 5th on the list of states depending on the government so they get back more than they give unlike California

Found another article has cali ranked 42nd and Vermont as 13th on most dependent on the government.

Gotta scroll thru all the old news bs it's in there a list of all states and where they are ranked and how much per dollar they get from the government.

    https://www.politifact.com/article/2017/feb/14/does-california-give-more-it-gets-dc/

I'm not unsympathetic ---- I have a small business myself ---- but when you say "playing politics", who do you mean? Because I see it as the Democrats "playing politics" by trying to slip in all of the things I mentioned, and I see the Republicans as the ones trying to preserve any sense of fiscal responsibility, but I don't think of that as "playing politics". But maybe we see it differently..... As always I welcome your thoughts.

Small state with a few federal government sites that flow payroll into the state, that doesn't effect the budget.

California gets billions, Vermont gets millions, but the real numbers would be statistical static.
