States are struggling having to pay unemployment since they cover it for companies. Couple that with added expedentures to fight the virus they need help or more massive layoffs will begin this includes law enforcement firemen road workers and teachers. Couple that I'm sure you go down a road where it needs work we this certainly will push that date back which means added frustrations usually when you catch a flat in a pot hole.

Product or service demand causes employers to hire, not extra savings.
Those funds might be reinvested into the business or they could simply go into the owners pockets.

As for the unemployment pay...states do not pay it all by themselves. Employers pay into it in addition to also paying it on a federal level. LINK: Employer Guide to Federal Unemployment Tax – FUTA The feds then supplement the States in paying out unemployment.

As for laying off law enforcement...isn't that what Dems want anyways? A Seattle councilwoman was just roasted recently for saying that they should lay off white people first. This of course after defunding police.

Look at the state as a insurance company for unemployment. Yes companies pay each month to cover their workers. However just like say progressive insurance if they were to all of a sudden get thousands of claims they would go bankrupt no difference here.

Or a drug counselor to deal with someone on drugs and use the cop as backup just in case instead of the cop going in there dude flips out thinking something is happening that's not and gets killed by the cop flipping out on him. From what I saw of their bill the only part I would have objected to was student loan forgiveness. I dont thinking should be forgiven however I do feel that a person should be able to discharge a student loan after so many years after schooling.

The States already keep their full tax revenue. What in the world makes you think that they don't? The only ones paying to other states are citizens via their federal taxes.

 

I am referring to cutting federal taxes down to a minimum level, as the framers intended. Allow the states to tax their citizens and provide or withhold what programs they decide to.

 

And States have Federal backing. That's something that insurance companies don't have.
