So listening to guys like Trump and Narravo and Limbaugh theyd have you believe that the Democrats didn't do anything the last two weeks and that they're the reason were in this quagmire. Limbaughs actually said that Democrats dont actually want another relief package. So I'd just like to do a basic fact list...... Democrats passed the hereos act in May

Republicans in the senate for some reason waited until weeks before the previous benefits were set to expire.

Republicans wanted to use unemployment expiring as leverage and now I guess they assume everyone's gold fish? The level of gas lighting on this latest stimulus package by Republican talking heads is just outstanding.....

So did the Republicans in the Senate sit on the 2nd Corona relief package until 2 weeks before unemployment benefits were set to expire?

I know Democrats are now going to hold up the 400 a week in unemployment by dragging his EO thru the court system. They dont care if people suffer.

The republicans have their own vision of what this should look like. I've heard one of the sticking points between the two parties is that the GOP doesn't want people to be able to get the bailout loans unless they actually have laid off at least 50% of their workforce and they want to cap the maximum amount that could be used for bonus unemployment at $25B. I personally don't want another stimulus check sent out, I would rather see more targeted relief plus some people still haven't gotten their first check. Inundating the post office with Round II during absentee ballot season is a recipe for disaster.

I don't think the GOP sat on the bill as much as they have been rendered irrelevant. This is Trump's show. Not that he participated, but it's been the WH against the Democrats in "negotiations." Funny. +1 for Trump against Nancy. Should have seen it coming.

That's okay though. It's only enough money to last a month. Won't keep people going till November. So, what's next?

"The republicans have their own vision of what this should look like."

Based on their overall lack of interest (waited right up to unemployment expiration) I'd say they purposefully sabotaged the talks at this point...

Lets just assume they did, for leverage, not uncommon in politics. Is that as bad as using the courts to keep the relief held up?

No I suppose not but I find the act of gaslighting about them waiting to be reprehensible.

Trumps EOs I'm not exactly sure how much actual relief that will actually be imo

Then why do they support a stimulus package ? End that and watch the economy tank.

Stimulus will not end "at least" until the election is over.

HEROS was a relief package only in part. It was every bit as much a Pelosi boondoggle in an attempt to reclaim her stuff that got knocked out of the first stimulus relief act.

I wonder why the democrats never called them out. Maybe because it's bollocks.

So your saying that the Republican senate didnt sit on the heroes act until the cares act was about to expire?

Because if so we have such a different fundamental grasp on reality

So you acknowledge the question in the thread then that the Republican senate sat on the Hereos act and waited until 2 weeks before the cares act expired to do anything.

All of what you wrote was what the Republican senate was saying at the time "liberal wishlist" etc. That doesnt mean the Republicans in the senate were allowed to not do their jobs called amending. Had they done that 2 months ago we wouldn't have all this pressure to get something done yesterday.

No, I am saying there might be an explanation aside from "republicans are evil and want to kill people""

Possibly a point, but amending (rewriting actually) the municipal garbage dump would be a colossal waste of time. Plus it is not obvious that HEROS was timely for any relief.

I would say that he let his staff negotiate while he worked with the lawyers on what he saw as an inevitable EO. Business owners have a different mentality than career bureaucrats and swamp dwellers who have spent their lives playing with other peoples' money. Trump made it clear early on not to come to the well with a bailout for Democrat run cities and states who attacked their own people in an attempt to hurt him. So, what did Pelosi do?
