Thousands and Thousands of minorities go to school for free due to athletics, many the first to every graduate in their family. Why would you discourage that?

I’m against letting kids into college just because they’re good at a sport. You wanna have a school team? Use the kids who got in because they’re students.

Everybody who can qualify and who wants to should be able to go to college for free. The billions diverted into useless sports could probably pay for that entirely.

 

That’s a different question. Scholarships give kids who are smart enough but not rich enough to go to college the chance to do so.

It's going to make the NFL draft interesting for sure. I'm done with professional sports anyway, too political now, but those poor seniors who worked their whole lives for this very year, ouch. But on the plus side, they have more time to study now which is what college is supposed to be for right?

Often forgotten is the long term effect on health by the virus. Youngsters and their parents should do everything to avoid this now until it can be handled. Some lament the effect on player's future incomes, that tiny percentage that make it to the pros, what happens to their incomes when they have chronic respiratory illnesses or muscle weakness?
The Big 10 had this decision made for them by the number of players saying they were unwilling to risk their current and future health.
