Sometimes we have an accident and are amazed we were not killed. Or we have a health condition that could have ended in death. Maybe we came close to having an accident that could have caused our demise. As a child I had blood poisoning from stepping on a rusty nail. Penicillin saved my life. Once I was on a swing and a home-made wooden spear pierced my pants leg, came out the other side, and never touched me. It could have been driven up into my body. As a teen I turned over a car and never got a scratch. Once in the Navy the sub I was own malfunctioned and we almost lost control of her. One morning I woke up to find our house full of smoke. My wife, child, and I each had a black sooty trail under our noses. Our oil space heater had malfunctioned and was pouring out smoke. I believe had I not woke up we all might have been asphyxiated.
Yes. Twice. I was on a third floor balcony when it collapsed. Should have bled out before the ambulance arrived but somehow held on. after six plus years of recovering I had one final operation and ended up with a post-op infection and they couldn't stop my lungs from collapsing. I beat that too. I doubt I have much good luck left.
Yes, I was born. Just about everyone who is successfully born has had one or more unknown siblings who were spontaneously aborted by natural processes. They are nearly always seen as an "early period" which most women have from time to time This is like asking your average priest if he believes in miracles. Most will honestly answer "yes, I have seen a sunrise" if they know both science and the precepts of their faith.
Yes once. However, I'm not very open to speak of the actual circumstances, but I had terrible health troubles.
Yes.....saved a bunch of people from dying in a burning high rise....i got trapped should died, found my way out.
Three times. Fort I was camping in caught fire when I was 15. Car crash when I was 16 and 37. Marginally possibly a fourth when some asshat pulled a small revolver on me at a company Christmas party I was DJing back in 1993 or 4. That evening made for an interesting story I think.....
Survived and engine failure in a helicopter auto rotation into a wooded area. Interesting night. Had a bad fall from a collapsed bridge with a horse. Got pinned underwater and was by myself. Was convinced it was over until the horse got on his feet. Broke 4 ribs and had to ride back to the truck about 8 miles away to get to the hospital.
Yes, but the one time I can say with absolute certainty that I wasn't lucky but was just damned lucky was when a stranger grabbed me from behind and jerked me out of the way just before a car I didn't even see coming was about to crush me in Dupont Circle in DC. That place is a pedestrian's nightmare on a Friday night with 10 different roads connecting into it.
